Introduction

Hello all, I wanted to introduce myself...

My name is Michelle, and I live in Canton, NC.  I am getting ready to start my new life on Monday, May 4th around 1:00 pm.  I will be having and RNY done by Dr. Christopher Edwards at St. Joseph's campus of Mission Hospitals.

Am I nervous?  Not really, I've just been on excitement overload for the past few weeks...could be the lack of food since I'm on the 2 week liquid diet.  :)

My non-surgical information would be that I'm currently a 3rd grade teacher in Haywood County and have been for the past 11 years.  I love my job and am thankful to still have it even though I am getting a pay cut.  :(  I'm not married and when asked if I have children, I say, "yes, this year I have 16 and next August I'll have around 20."  My "real" children are 3 Italian Greyhounds and one HUGE 7 month old Golden Retriever.

I look forward to meeting as many people as possible, because I've heard this is the best forum out there :)

Hi! and Welcome! I am not part of the usual "Welcome Wagon" but I did want you to know the forum is pretty quiet on the weekends.  Yes, you are not only in the best RNY group,  but I think this is the most  "Doggies are our children too " group you'll ever see! Will you have a laptop at the hospital, or someone that can report on your recovery?  You will be in my prayers Monday afternoon.
Go Girl!

Hey Deb!

I'm planning on taking my laptop to the hospital with me.  I was excited when I found out the hospital had WiFi...LOL  I probably won't post til Tuesday morning or afternoon, but will definitely do so.

Thanks for the prayers!

Hi Michelle!! Welcome to the NC Forum!  Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!  I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

I hear your pain about the pay cut....my DH is a teacher and I'm a state employee, so both of us are getting "docked"! Ugh!  I"m a dog person, too....in addition to my 6 year old daughter, I have 5 dog children (mini dachshunds, golden, 2 mutts) and one cat!  It's a wild place!  LOL!

Please post if you need support or want to share....you were right....this IS the best forum! :-)

Good luck on the 4th!!!!

Good luck to the both of you. Sorry, I have a cat.  I am not sorry I have a cat.  Oh never mind.  My dog died anyway.  But welcome none the less.

Maybe I should have said "pet friendly".  I have a cat too, but I wish he was a dog. lol I lost my last dog in an ugly divorce and I have not been willing to commit since.

You can pretend he is a dog.  Not good at fetch I bet.  Do you get visitation with your dog at least?  I would demand it unless of course the ex would then press you for dog support.  You could get yourself in a mess.  Better off with the cat.
