Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming surgery!  I know it's one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I hope your surgery and recovery are smooth and uneventful.

It's hard to believe, but I was a Diet Coke addict, and now I don't even like the taste.  I drank at least a 12 pack every day!  Now, I love to make my own iced coffee, drink teas, and Propel water (love the blueberry pomegranate).

Stock up on sugarfree popsicles, they were my lifesaver immediately post-op.  Funny, now I can't stand the sight of them b/c I ate so many right after surgery! LOL!

Good luck to you!  Let us know how you're doing!

Welcome to the boards and congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I used to be a Coca Cola addict and now rarely even have a sip. Don't worry, that will likely work itself out... Most WLS patients don't continue to drink carbonated drinks post op because the carbonation isn't comfortable and you can't really drink enough to satisfy or quench that 'thirst.'

I hold a monthly general meeting Raleigh once a month and special interest groups throughout the month. You are welcome to join us anytime before or after surgery. We have a number of patients from Dr. Enoch's practice and of course many others. You can find out more about us at http://www.meetup.com/nc-wls.

I look forward to getting to know you as you make this life changing journey.

Welcome and congratulations on your surgery.  I'm doing the same as  you, trying to prepare my pantry for surgery.  I'm starting to put things I know I can't have for sometime on the higher shelves, so my family can still have them and making a shelve just for me with protein powder and things I know I'll be able to have a few weeks out.  I also ordered a food journal off Amazon so I will be able to log my calories, protein and carbs based on the information my nutritionist gave me.  Good luck with surgery and I'm sure everything will go well.  I'm not far behind you for mine.

Hi there and welcome!  :)  Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!  You will be celebrating your new birthday while our youngest daughter celebrates her 16th!  ;)

I agree with making your own shelf in the pantry, if you have a family...also your own area in the freezer and the fridge...for your initial days post-op.  That always keeps my eyes from wandering.  hehe

It's encouraging that I soon found I was eating with my family the exact same things.  (I think there is a misconception with some people on that regarding RNY!)  As the matter of fact, I chose this surgery not only for myself but for my family because I knew we could get healthy together.  :)

Good luck to you!
