OMG!  I love strawberries!!!  There are strawberry farms all around my area!  They're everywhere!  But I'm still sort of early out from surgery and I'm supposed to be on 90% protein still.  **sigh**  How can I enjoy these wonderful strawberries and still stick to my plan?  I've already had a few strawberries with no problems swallowing or digesting.  In fact, I never have trouble eating anything.  I'm thinking:  strawberries in Greek yogurt, or strawberry protein ice cream made with Greek yogurt, sugar-free fat-free Jello instant cheesecake flavored pudding, Eggbeaters, Splenda, Unjury protein powder, and skim milk.  Any other ideas, besides standing over the sink and eating them one at a time right out of the little green basket, fresh from the farm!  I'm salivating just thinking about it!

I know my nut handed me a packet of food that i can eat at this time, and it says strawberrys since they are high in fiber for us. Just don't over do it.. We are allowed fruit at this time, so maybe a few won't hurt..

Hi NightHawk...

Everything in moderation... Try some of the things that Meredith and I suggested to boost the protien factor because when  you are so early out, it is imperitive that you get as much protein as possible.

Wishing you every success,

Ben and I met over a strawberry shortcake and strawberries will always have a special place in my heart. when I was as early as you, I often made luscious strawberry parfaits layered with SF vanilla pudding and often add just a bit of vanilla protein powder. Also adding in the South Beach version of Cool Whip! It's devine... I think I'll have to go get some stuff to put some together this weekend. I also like layer SF strawberry jello with the South Beach Cool Whip and strawberries.

ENJOY!

Meredith,

I'm sure if you ask your doc he'll be ok with strawberries.  You're allowed to eat fruit aren't you?  I love strawberries also and on Monday I'm going to go pick some!!!  Trying to try my hand at sugar free preserves this year I think.  I've never canned anything, so wish me luck!!!

Enjoy!

Yes, I'm sure it's okay if I eat strawberries.  10% of my meal can be carbs.  I'm encourgaged to pick that 10% from fruits and vegs rather than things like bread or other starchy stuff.  And I know strawberries are very low in carbs too.  In fact, most berries are very low in carbs compared to things like apples, pears, and bananas.  So, I can feel very satisfied with only a few strawberries.  One large strawberry has only 8 calories!  If I eat 4 big strawberries, which is all I could possibly eat, that's only 32 calories!!  That's a win-win situation!
