** OT** Anyone from OBX? Looking for recommendations

I posted this in my usual Forum and someone mentioned to post here...Good Idea! LOL:



Myself, DH, DD (14) and the inlaws are looking to visit for a long weekend (4-5 nights) in Aug....of course the most $$ time of the year. Looking for recommendations for a place to stay. We'd like to be ocean front, somewhere near KDH.

We've looked into a condo, but not sure if we can stay for a whole week so I'd hate to waste a couple days.

We usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, but that is way too much $$$ for more than a night or two. Acutally, weve been twice and Im a Hilton Honor's memember, thats why we stayed there. Im looking at the Days Inn KDH maybe??

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

I'm about 10 minutes away from the beach - my thought is you'll probably be happy most anywhere in KDH. If that Days Inn is the Orville and Wilbur - it''s a much older motel than the ads make it look - BUT it is Ocean front and near everything and has a pool. I'll probably be down that way later in the week. I'll try and jot down a few names of some oceanfront places for you. Really any of them except the Holiday Inn Express in Kitty Hawk are going to be Ocean front. There are a few Mom and Pop hotels that are on the west side of the beach road but most all of the rest are right there on the ocean.

Thats Great! Thank you so much. My niece actually lives in KDH and we are going to visit her and her bf. She is really busy gearing up for the season at work and I dont want to bug her so much! LOL All DH and I want is to be on the beach...when we went two weeks ago, it was so nice to sleep with the door open and listen to the ocean! LOL

Guess it will be too hot for that though in Aug!

We stayed at the Days Inn (Wilbur and Orville Wright) a couple of years ago and found it to be a really great deal.  Older motel, but you're there for the beach anyway, right?  Request an interior room, much nicer IMO.
