Venting
Sorry, just have to vent. My back has been hurting very bad for about a month. Called my doctor a few weeks ago trying to get worked in. I missed 2 days work because I couldn't hardly move I was in so much pain. You know they always ask on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the pain. Mine was probably a 12 at the time. The scheduler at the doctor's office had the sympathy on a scale of 1-10 of a minus 0. Finally got in last Thursday and thankfully will be having a spinal injection this Thursday. I'm really hoping after my surgery next month and loosing weight will help my back. Sorry to complain but just had to get it out. Thanks for listening.
Just wanted to say Hi, and wish you luck on your weight loss journey.
I too, am just getting to the stressful part of mine.
I am 25 yrs old and have started having serious back pain, lower back mostly sometimes it radiates, I also have sciatica which can radiate in your back and down your legs. I also have excruciating hip pain. My doctor says this surgery will bring great relief for me in all these areas.
I hope you start to feel better and I hope the surgery helps take away your back pain.
Have a wonderful week!

Let it all out!!! That's what we are here for :)
Sorry to hear about your pain, i have been dealing with severe abdominal cramping, thinking it's my gallbladder and it is no fun to be in such pain at 22 weeks pregnant :(
Hopefully they will find out the cause for you and I am certain you will start to feel like a new woman after your surgery!! It is an amazing journey :) Hang in there, you are almost there!!

Charlene, I am so sorry to hear about the pain you are in. Hopefully I can help you feel some optimism...
Before I had my RNY, I was almost crippled by sciatica and I also had bursitis in my hips. I couldn't do hardly any shopping or housework or cooking. I mostly just sat in my chair or laid in bed to prevent the pain. Then, when I woke up from my RNY, and walked the halls for the first time...I can't tell you how long it had been since I'd been PAINFREE! I was worried that once I quit taking my pain meds for the surgery, that the pain would come back. Well, time went by and no pain! There have been just a couple of occasions that I have felt a twinge and been like, "Oh no! Here we go again!" but so far, so good. :)
I don't know if they moved me in the OR just right or if the pain meds coursing through my system helped to mask the pain until the weight loss got to a point that it relieved it or what. All I know is that it is gone and I am able to do just about anything I want to now! I will say that I am still being careful about heavy duty lifting or work due to the hernia I have. Once that is fixed I plan on pacing myself when I add back more activity so I don't dare flare the sciatic/hip pain again.
Hang in there! I hope you get some immediate relief from your injection on Thursday and I am sincerely hoping that you will find permanent relief as you go through your surgery and weight-loss!

Hope you are feeling better. As someone who has had 3 major back surgeries, I can certainly relate. Not sure what your beliefs are about Chiropractic, but if you are ever in this position again, get in touch with a good Chiropractor. They can see you quicker and if needed their office can call your Medical Doc and possibly get you in QUICKER!!!
I've had low back surgery in 2003 for a herniated disk. Again in Jan 2007 for herniating the same disk, then again in Feb. 2007 (1 month later). That surgery kept me out of work for 4 months. My surgeon who did the first 2 surgeries blew me off when I complained of horrible back pain after the second surgery. Told me to keep taking the muscle relaxers. So I went to my Chiropractor who sent me to a different Med. Doc telling him that something wasn't right and i needed another MRI. Well guess what? I herniated the same disk and had to have my low back fused, but I didn't go back to the original surgeon, but I did let him know what happened and if it wasn't for my Chiro, I would have never gotten fixed!
Good Luck on your treatment I sure hope things go well for you! I know back pain is a BEAR!
