Hello....I'm having RNY on Monday, 4/27 and I'm having it in VA.  Long way to drive for support group so I was wondering if there is a support group in the mentioned areas or if anyone would like to begin one with me??  Lord knows I need the support now and certaintly positive I'll need it after surgery.  Let me know.  Thanks!!

Good Morning!!!! There isn't one right now - BUT - there seems to be interest in getting one together. I've contacted OH and have everything I need to get an Official OH group together for our area. We'll more than likely have our first meeting sometime in May - haven't nailed that part down yet. Right now we're looking for a convenient location (any suggestions?).

There seems to be a lot of us in the area who have traveled a good distance to have our surgeries and would benefit form the support locally. Talk it up among those you know who might be interested and let me know.

I like the idea of a support group closer to home!!!  Let me know when and where and I'm there!!!

This board has helped me so much since making the decision to have surgery.  I have really good support from others, too, but it's just not the same as having the support of people who have gone through this already.  Welcome to the board, OBXlady!

Hi obxlady,

Dr. Moore was also my surgeon.  I think he is wonderful  You'll do great.  I'm sorry I'm not closer to you for the support but you came to the right place on this OH board.  People here are just fantastic.  Any questions you have just post and someone is always willing to help.

Count me in on a support group closer to home!  My surgery was in Virginia as well, and it's quite a drive!  Keep me posted, and thanks for all of your efforts, Iris!

Iris....thank you...thank you....thank you for working on getting a support group started.  Answered prayer!!  I was worried about my need for one especially after surgery.  I've certatinly discovered that this "way of life" isn't just a familiar way of life to most people.  It is complicated and to those of you who've had your surgery and those of us who've researched and waiting on the "big day" know it's not an easy subject around too many people.  Or at least that's what I'm discovering, even at this early stage.  So I NEED support from people who know what I'm going through.  Can't wait.  Iris, if I can be of any help, PLEASE contact me.
