New to OH!
I just wanted to say hello and meet some other NC people going through the same things that I am! I am just under 3 weeks away from RNY and I am so ready! My surgeon is Dr. Hata at Hickory Surgical and I will have surgery at Catawba. I am very pleased so far with my experience there.
One question......are there any support groups in the Mocksville/Advance/ Winston Salem area? I plan to go to the monthly meetings in Hickory but it would be nice to have a closer group as well!
Can't wait to get to know you guys better!

Hi Wanda! :) There are quite a few of us on this forum that have had our surgeries with Hickory Surgical. Dr. Cook is my surgeon, though Dr. Hata did my orientation and I think he is just awesome as well. :) I love, love, love everything about Hickory (I use Frye hospital) and am currently undergoing more unrelated care down there even though it's a much further drive for me.
My hubby and I had faithfully attended the Hickory support group while I went through the process but it has gotten more difficult to attend lately due to our schedule. Hopefully we will get to meet in person sometime!
I hope your three weeks flies by and that you have a very safe, successful surgery. I was just telling myself yesterday how much I wish I'd had gotten the RNY at least 10 years ago. It is the best thing I've ever done for myself next to my hysterectomy! lol Life just gets better 'n better all the time. :)
Good luck and best wishes!!! Keep in touch!!!

Hi!
Dr. Hata was my surgeon and I cannot say one bad thing about him. He has great bedside manner and is a good listener! He explains everything thoroughly to where I can understand what is going on!
I had my surgery at Frye!!
I have yet to make it to the support meetings in Hickory but you are always welcome to join our little one in Morganton (usually the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month).
Good luck on your upcoming surgery; three weeks will fly by!
