Anyone in Asheville area want to start a support group with me?

Mission. It went well and I respect the surgeon a great deal. The meetings aren't great.  

I live in Cleveland County and it is a good hour drive from me, however, I would be interested in hearing what you are doing and maybe join you on occasion.

Count me in - I could really use some support locally.  I went to the Mission support group once but it didn't seem to be real supportive for me since I didn't have my surgery done there.

Cool! We may have enough people to get sytarted.
Right now i'm recovering from a hand injury and can only type with my left hand, which is slow going and the mouse is near impossible so when i get better i'll pm you all. I'll work on finding a space in the meantime.

Are weekends good for everyone?

Hi there!  :)  I am in Black Mountain and have a friend, Diane (from Black Mountain also), that threw around the idea of starting a local support group together.  I think she has the same degrees you do and is also an adoptive mother of a little girl from China.  You both are definitely going to have to meet!  :) 

Anyway, Diane and I have talked a lot about how this area is in need of the group you are thinking about starting so I think you are on to something great here! 

As for me personally, my life has gotten really busy lately and I tend to spend the weekends with my family.  However, my hubby and I do love attending the various support groups when we can and would certainly try to attend yours, time willing!

like I said, when my hand gets better I'll be pm'ing all of you and trying to get a date. For now though, does everyone agree weekends are best? or is an evening during the week better?

I'm so sorry to hear about your hand and hope it's better soon.  I don't want you to factor my schedule into your plans so I will leave it to the other lovely ladies to help guide you on what time/day is best.  :) 

Our daughter plays HS softball and we are currently remodeling our 3-story, 6 bedroom, 4 bathroom home from top to bottom, inside and out!  Busy is an understatement!  ha! 

If you all have the meetup on a weeknight, we will be there if we don't have softball to interfere.  If you have it on a weekend, we will have to play that one by ear based on where we are with the house, if the weather is preventing us from working, etc.  ;) 

Looking forward to meeting you, Guin, and anyone else that I haven't met in real life yet that's in the WNC area!  You'll love Diane...she's a gem!

I live in Asheville and would be interested. I've been to one in Waynesville with some wonderful women, but it's too hard to get there with my crazy work schedule! I don't care for the program at Mission and have never been to their group. I would be willing to help in any possible way I can. I might even be able to round up a few I know that are not on OH.
