Xpost: Feeling WEIRD question

I know a lot of you have problems with blood sugar and that it can drop and cause you to feel ....WEIRD - somebody expain weird for me - please?

I had an episode earlier this morning that has passed completely now - but I really felt woozy. Sorta like the room was on the verge of spinning. Not flushed feeling or any temperature extreme. I swear my vision was blurry but my head didn't hurt.

I have eaten normally so far today (protein shake for breakfast - almond crunch bar for snack) coffee and am working on my 2nd bottle of water (32 oz). Nothing new. No dumping.

Any ideas?

Check your blood pressure.  Mine used to be very high and I had to take medication.  Now post surgery I am off medica tion and sometime have to deal with orthostatic hypotension.  My blood pressure drops quickly upon suddenly standing or after bending over.  It does give you that woozy let off the merry go round feeling.

Of all things "we' happened to have a wrist cuff at work (one of our girls just got put on bp meds and is having to check hers often til the meds are regulated). I took mine during all of this and it was 112/65 with a pulse rate of 45.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello Iris! When my blood sugar drops too low, I feel like jello. Like I could just slide right down to the floor. When it gets too high, I get shaky and my vision blurs.  Have you had problems with your blood sugar before? Don't know if that's what you had or not but that's my 2 cents worth

Glad it's passed though but if it happens again, you definitely should call your doctor's office.
If you know someone that has a glucose kit to check it, get them to do it if it happens again and that will tell you if it's your sugar.

Blood sugar was the whole reason that I had surgery - mine was up and I'm TERRIFIED of needles. I haven't checked it lately so I'm thinking that when I get home tonight I'll put that handy dandy littel kit back in my purse so I can test it whenever and where ever.

It's time to have all of my blood draws done again and I see on the sheet where Dr. Mac wants my A1C checked this time. Plus my PCP and I had decided that it was time to check the Cholesterol and Thyroid again (My Mom has issues with both). So I guess once I've have this drawn taken I'll be at least a quart low.

Thanks for the input - I appreciate it.

That's good news! Glad you're getting everything checked out!

I would sure be in bad shape if I was afraid of needles. I currently take 3 shots a day.
My PCP has cut my insulin over half so that's good news but still a shot every night nonetheless.
I take a shot of Byetta every morning and every evening. That will be the last diabetic med I will come off of eventually. Hope it's not much longer!!!

Good luck sweetie!!!

I am reading this later but a pulse of 45 is too low. Your pulse should be around 68-80. To check for orthostatic hypotension. Check your BP while sitting, then stand up and check it again to see how much it drops. Hope you are feeling OK now. Jackie

I agree with Jackie. That pulse is too low. It always pays to check it manually verses a machine. Machines are not always right with the BP or the pulse. Check your wrist until you feel the pulse beating and then count for one full minute. Also take note if the beat is regular or irregular. Check your pulse at rest too. If it truly is in the 40s or 50s I would surely be notifying my PCP.
