Has anyone gotten RNY in India?
I am looking into getting the RNY surgery in India by Dr Goel ( I don't have Insurance) my BMI is 54. I was wonding if you have had it done there did you pay with a credit card? How did you get there? (airline) What can I excpect as far as weight loss for the first few months. Also do you know where I can get passport pictures taken?
I do know that medicaid and voc rehab will cover the cost of rny.
There are several things one must do before they have the actual surgery.
You have to have many test to make sure you are in good enough shape to under go surgery,
Some people have to have a six month medically supervised diet before they get approved.
If possible for you I would look into having the surgery done close to home so that it will be easier for you to keep your check up appointments and be able to call your doctor if you need some questions answered.

Thank you, but it would cost 4 times as much for the surgery here alone. When you add in the cost of pre-op tests I really can't afford to get it here or I would have it already. There is a pre-op diet I need to do for 2 weeks before the surgery. I can go to a local doctor for follow up here, actually I will need too.
you might try to post this on the RNY board and see if you get a response also on the main board.
One of the things you need to look into is if there are complications or issues after surgery will you have medical coverage for that? I just read a post that a man went out of state I think he went to Mexico and has ended up with over 200K in charges (somehow they did get his insurance company to pay) but just something to look into.
Good Luck with your journey and I wish you the best.

Post your question on the main board. Eggface had her surgery and follow up plastic surgery done in Mexico. It was much cheaper and I think she was able to arrange some kind of financing for it. It was cheaper to fly back for her follow up visits. The clinic that she went to has a good reputation. She would be very helpful in answering your questions.
