Hope all is well with everyone.

I'm almost 3 months post op and down 42 pounds.  But, I feel like I'm picking up old habits.  Tell me what you eat in a day or some good low fat/cal recipes.  Also, chicken seems to bother me.  It gets stuck and we all know what happens after that.  I have my 3 month follow up next week.  I can't have any raw vegies just yet and I miss them so.  Just looking for some different ideas.

Oh!!!!!  What do you order when you go out to eat?

Thanks

Deborah

Hi Deborah!

I'm six months out and I understand your concern with the foods.  Please check out Eggface's blog, she has some awesome recipes.

Here's a typical day for me during the week!

6 AM a protein shake w/ sugar free caramel & 4 strawberries
7:30 AM a 16 oz cup of decaf coffee
12:00 PM single serving vegetable & a broiled chicken tender
2:30 PM a single serving string cheese
5:00 PM single serving veggie & meat
7:00 PM 100 calorie popcorn

On the weekends, I eat more but it is typically not much.  About 4 oz at a time.  Of course, I also drink my 80 ozs of water a day.

Hope this helps!

I understand! My husband is a lap bander and he hasn't found a way to cure his hunger pains either.  If you find some good tips, please let me know.

Thanks!
Deb

Lots and lots of soup, beans and chili. They're still my favorites at 8+ months out. Seafood is a big staple in my diet. Most all of the meats I fix are cooked in the crockpot - tender and moist and not as big of a "sticking" issue for me. I think I'd die with out my daily Click protein shake. I still don't get in to many vegetables - protein first you understand. By the time I get the protein in I'm tired of chewing. Let me know of any wonderful things you find.

Hi Deborah.  I am 3 months out as well.  I started eating salads about 2 weeks ago.. my nut says to wait for 3 months, but I was craving some salad.. so I tried it - at home of course!   I did great.  I had mixed greens, cucumber, red peppers, tomatoes and onions.  I stayed away from celery, carrots - the harder veggies.   I put some chicken on my salad one day and some shrimp the next.  Added about 2 tblspns of dressing and was in heaven!!!   Oh..and of course added some cheese!

My typical day is
B   - either low sugar oatmeal with water - or 1 egg (over easy) and 1 slice wheat toast  or yogurt
L    - varies, tuna salad, egg salad, deli turkey roll with cheese, or left overs
S   - yogurt or fruit and cheese
D  - usually 2-3 oz of any meats (been very lucky there... no problems with anything)
and about 1/4 of a veggie
LNS - sugar free pudding

Good luck.  I have my 3 month appt tomorrow.  Hoping for good news if they draw labs!!!

All of it sounds good.  I just wanted to see if I was eating to much or not enough.  Love Egg Face's menu board.

Thanks

Hi Deborah!  I had lost 40-something by month 3 as well.  Sounds like you are doing great!

When I go out to eat, I usually order soup or chili, a cooked veggie plate, a wrap (in which I tear off a portion of the tortilla), or fish.

I did salad, without the harder veggies, at 3 months out also and tolerated it very well.  I usually go with dark greens, a few black olives, feta, Italian dressing and a few croutons.

For breakfast I love to put 1/4-1/2 c of cottage cheese spread on a piece of wheat toast.  It is super filling and really keeps my blood sugar happy.  :)  Sometimes I do a yogurt cup with 1/4-1/3 c of granola mixed in it.  Early on I would make quiche in muffin cups and freeze them to reheat, but I haven't done that in awhile.

For lunch I usually do something like a mug of Progresso lentils or Bush's vegetarian baked beans.  Sometimes I add a tofu dog to the baked beans.  I also got the Morningstar Farms chik'n nuggets but just 3 or 4 of those fill me up quick!

I usually keep a variety of Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, and Smart Ones entrees in the freezer for when I want a quick and easy lunch or dinner, which the latter is necessary with our evening schedule!

For snacking, I've been keeping string cheese, yogurt and SF pudding cups, nuts, low-cal popcorn, and things like that on hand.  I just posted that I'm going to have to look into some alternatives to what I've been eating for personal health issues though.

Good luck!

Even tho I haven't had my surgery yet, I've been to 2 support group meetings.  Remember not to microwave your meats.  They will dry out.  If you do, moisten them with some liquids so they can go down easier.  Chew, Chew, Chew.  I love the ideas from all of you.
