OT- NEED YOUR PRAYERS AND COMFORT

Yesterday at my part time job all 20+ workers in our department were let go.  The hospital where I work has decided to do away with the entire department.  Some of the people had worked there 25+ years.  We were given no notice and in fact had been told 4 months ago that our job was secure.   I have my full time job teaching school but  I used the second job pay to support my classroom and to do special things for my grandchildren.  The money also came in handy for emergencies such as the well pump  and the car windshield that I just had to replace.  I was given one week severance pay but the others only got two and they lost all of their vacation time and accumulated sick leave.  It is really sad that my closest friend was only 3 weeks from graduating nursing school.  She can probably make it on unemployment but that will just cover her living expenses.  She still has to graduate and take her nursing boards and that ain't cheap.  Keep all of in your prayers and the economy bites us in the butt.

Hi Ruby!  Gosh this is such sad news!  I do collections and am hearing this story day after day. It's amazing.  Fills me with gratitude for having a "secure" job.  My thoughts and prayers go out for you all.  Our new president sure did inherit a mess!

Well that's probably alot to do with NEW management. I could get on a soap box about it as I used to work for the same hospital. Just try to look on the bright side, at least you didn't loose your full time job. Maybe something better will come your way. At least you know the teaching job should remain stable. As for the nursing student it is unfortunate because if she graduates in May it will probably be July or August before she can start earning income. Or at least that is how it worked for me. By the time I took boards and fell into the orientation group at the Same hospital, it was August. Maybe she can work as a NA while she is waiting, if she got her certification. Prayers for everyone!
