A question for Dr. Mann's patients.
Hi everyone. I have a couple questions for any patients of Dr. Mann's. When you woke up from surgery, did you still have the tube in your throat or nose? How long did you have to stay in the hospital? Was it laproscopic or open?
What was the first 2 weeks like after surgery? Like what kind of things was you able to eat. Like I know there is sugar free popsicles and stuff like that but is there anything he wanted you to do that was different from any other surgeon. Basically if there is anything you can tell me, I would be soooo happy and grateful!!
I am just trying to find out some things before next week. Still kind of nervous but I can do this!! Thanks for any replies to this. It is greatly appreciated.

I personally didnt have Dr Mann..However when i was walking the hallway last night in the hospital, i met this lady called Daisy and she was a Gastric Bypass patient of Dr Mann, and she had no tubes in her nose or throat and her surgery was laproscopic, as far as anything else i couldnt tell ya. Wish i could be of more help. I will tell you this..walk as much as you can while your in the hospital, itll release the built up gas inside of you and youll feel sooooooooooooo much better!! Take care and good luck on your journey!!

I know that they had to use a tube to help me breath before surgery and as I told you they noted I had a short neck.
I had to suck on this stuff before surgery to numb my throat.
To this day I dont remember them putting the tube in and I did not wake up with a tube.
I remember being taken to my room in a bariatric bed OMG how I hated that bed mainly because I am short and kept sliding down in the bed and no one knew how to work that bed.
I was in the hospital for 3 days two of those days I slept in a recliner my choice because of that bed it had no footboard and I was freeaking out about them pulling me up in bed ect.. last night I finally got a regular bed and slept much better.
As far s what i had to eat when I came home it was mostly clear liquids and jello then I was able to do soft foods that was a wonderful time LOLI love creamed soups, refried beans SF pudding.
To this day soup and I are best friends.
I am also becoming good friends with cottage cheese and beans.
I know you are nervous but put your trust and faith in your doctor.
I too wasent sure if my surgery was going to be open or not if I woke up and found out it was open I made my mind up that I would deal with it no matter what.
I wanted my surgery and knew it was what I needed for a healthier life.
I have no regrets what so ever which my choice.
This morning I am happy to report I do not have a huge choclate bunny looking at me.
I have my life back and that is better than any chocolote rabbit.
Going to workout and go get a ham for tonight and go see my mom.

Hi Emelinda
I am a Dr. Mann patient. I will try to answer your questions for you
When I woke up in PACU no tubes were in my nose or throat. I DID have a drain coming out of my abdominal area, Dr. Mann does that on a case by case basis. I had mine done Laproscopic. The first two weeks I followed the Southern Surgical diet (which you should of been given a pack) I have to admit here to you I was VERY hungry but it was NOT head hunger and I cheated. I ate some yogurt, Peanut Butter and some SF Pudding. I am NOT telling you to do this. There are things I can still chow down on like Chocolate LOL Bread and Rice makes me sick to my stomach. I wish you the best of luck... you are in fantastic hands! Dr. Mann ROCKS!!!
hugs to my newest Mann Sister,
Darcie
