my first WOW
6 days out, and I am already in shock. I just went for a walk (it is freezing out there with that wind blowing through you!) and decided to see how close I could get to walking a mile since my surgeon wants her patients walking a mile by 1 week out and I thought it impossible for me. I actually figured I would ask tomorrow if that meant 1 mile at once or 1 mile total for all of the walks for the day. I walked more than a mile! The things that really shocked me, though...my calves never burned/knotted up on me which they always used to even if walking half a mile at a slower speed than I did tonight. The other thing is that I got back and kept walking further, probably got somewhere around 1.1 to 1.2 miles in before coming in and I felt like I could have kept going if I didn't stop because of this odd stitch in my right side feeling that I had beginning at about the half mile mark. It isn't like I am 30 pounds less than I was just a week or two before surgery when I would have calf pain from walking. I don't know what changed, but I like it!!!
You just wait - those WOW moments are going to flood you. It's great to hear that you're doing so well. I hope you took a water bottle with you - I know your other post said you were worried about dehydration. But you've got the idea - walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip !!
