My doctor never set a goal. My goal was 150. Right now I am 168. If I make it to 150......yahoo. But since the basket ball hernia is gone ... I am realy happy here. I am in a 14 jeans even in the jrS. tHAT IS A LONG WAY FROM A SIZE 32. My DH and DRS all tell me I have lost enough. I am undecided on that. All I know is when I glance at my reflection ....I don't know who that person is. When I pick up the size 14...my mind says.. NO WAY.. but it fits. That is pretty close to my goal. My BP is normAL. I can walk forever.. I fit in booths at resterants. No cholesteral meds..
I am looking for a new horse...I can ride in about 1 month.
Life is good.

Hi Myrtis,
Since you look and feel fabulous, it sounds like you might have gotten to goal.
Congratulations!

I would LOVE to be at 145. I was there back in 2000 but my body has changed sooo much with the weight gain , having another baby and just the whole aging process.
My goal weight currently is 200. then 180 and final is 160

One of the first disappointments with this whole journey was at my pre-op visit. The Dr told me that I probably would not get much under 200lbs because that would mean I lost 100lbs and that would be about all I should expect. I am not sure why he thinks that and he danced around the answer when I asked him. Blaah blaah blaah...at 12 months weight loss slows...50 yrs old...blaah bhah. Well, I am at 3.5 months and I am 80lbs down. 20lbs of it was pre-surgery though but I still count that. So, I guess his goal for me is 200lbs (stupid Dr) and my goal is 145. It may be unrealistic or it may be attainable. We will see. I do go to the gym 5 days a week. I am off of my blood pressure med. I feel really good. I am still too big but it is so much fun getting smaller and smaller every week.
My surgeon never set a goal weight. His theory is *Your body will stop losing when it is ready* My goal weight was my high school weight of 135 but I would of been happy at 145. I weigh 126 and am very happy and comfortable. I am 5'7 with big bones. According to all these charts *normal* is around 150 for my height. My hubby cannot keep his hands off LOLOL I have seen recent photos of myself and I think I look healthy and not too thin. I have had a few people (including my mother) say I am too skinny. My biggest complaint (and I dont want to sound like an ass for saying this) is finding size 2/4 clothes to wear. My goal was to get off high blood pressure meds and have my metabolic syndrome leave my body. Both are GONE. I tell everyone that is starting NOT to get too scope locked on the scale... measurements and clothing fits are what you should be looking at. When I say clothing fits I dont mean shooting for a size. When I was in high school I wore a 9... now that size is a 2/4. Dont let a number control your life....get out there and do what you love and see if you love doing it Best luck to all!

well the nutritionist has me a goal of 165. I am 5'10" and I think that is a little too small. I have a goal of 175. I am 5 months post op and have lost just over 77 pounds wich has put me at half way to goal. Soo I still have another 77 to loose. I do not want to be skinny, but I do want to be healthy!
Really enjoyed this post, Barb. :)
I just figured out at my 4 month checkup what the dr.'s goal is for me: 135 lbs. I weighed 125 when I met my hubby and weighed 135 on our wedding day, so I know what I looked like at that weight and it was probably right at perfect for me at the time (I'm 5'6").
HOWEVER! I know that as I lose I will have quite a bit of excess skin, I'm still sporting H-cup boobies (they are NOT shrinking at a faster rate than the rest of me!), and I am now a post-hysterectomy 40-year old.
I've decided to take it a step at a time with my goals and to convey that on my ticker. My first goal currently is to lose 50% of my excess weight by 6 months out, like my surgeon wants me to. I will weigh 210 pounds with a BMI of 33.9 when I reach the 50% point.
My next personal goal will be to get down to an "overweight" BMI of 29.9 = 185 lbs. I know I willl be THRILLED to be at this weight. Right now I can't even imagine feeling the need or desire to lose more, but I don't want to sell myself short.
The next goal I will set is to get to a "normal" BMI of 25.0 = 155 lbs. Heck, I will probably pass out when I see that on the scale! lol A "normal" BMI sounds healthy and that is why I did this, to get healthy, so that will be an important goal.
As for the doctor's goal of 135 lbs., I will not be upset if that doesn't come until post-plastics, which I plan on waiting for at least 2 years after I reach goal for optimum results.
Thanks for this discussion and for making me stop and think about it! :)
