Just wanna share my experience. (Sorry, long post!!)
As I am half way thru my pre op appts, I have had some of these same feelings. I have days where I go back and forth with the idea. However I physically feel like CRAP all the time, and I am so tired of it. I want some energy and some stamina. I just had my endoscopy and it went well. I will admit I am a little nervous about the ABG test (the needle in the wrist). I have never had one but I have seen it done alot and patients act like it kills them. OUCH. I mainly worry about my ability to handle not being able to eat the things that I am addicted to. I literally have cravings all the time, and I know I will probably still have them. Of course I will resist cause I don't want to dump, ever. I hate vomiting. But the thoughts of never having pizza again is just about enough to push me over the edge...LOL I was italian in a former life. LOL Anything pasta, tomatoey, cheesy, bready, I go nuts over. But I know I am slowly dying at this weight. 289 with a fabulous ht of 5'2" Good luck to you and me and all of us pre opers. And congrats to all of you post opers. I long to be where yall are at.

I can honestly tell you, when they take the blood from your wrist, it doesn't hurt that bad. I was terrified when I saw the needle because I had the thought in my brain that it was going to be soooo painful. But it wasn't. I am not gonna say that I didn't feel anything becuase I did but believe me, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The only reason why it hurt me more than it usually does when they take blood is because they had to go deep because of how big my arms is due to being overweight. She warned me ahead of time that it would be a deep stick. I actually watched her do it though because I want to know when they are going to stick me. It calms me down actually. I know, I am weird..lol
I will tell you what I learned from the experience and also what I was told. If you tense up, it is going to make it A LOT harder for them to get the blood and they will more than likely have to stick you more than once. So just stay calm, take deep breaths and always think to yourself, I am doing this for my own good.
After she stuck the needle in and was getting the blood, I looked up and there was this little scene on the ceiling and while I was looking at it, I felt no pain at all. Not even when she took the needle out. So just stay calm and things will be done and overwith before you know it!!
Good luck and if you ever wanna talk, just send me a message!!
