Oatmeal question and WOW

Oatmeal question:  Does it swell?  I bought the Weight Control Quaker Oatmeal - had high protein (for oatmeal) and fairly low sugar.  Was a little scared to try any this morning.  Just thought I'd ask.

WOW:  Went shopping today with my mom.  We went to Dress Barn and I tried on some pants just to see what size I am now.  The 18s were a little loose but the 16s were a little too tight but I got them on a buttoned and zipped without trouble.  They actually looked like my "fat" pants looked on me before the surgery.    Oh, another wow...only 9 more lbs til "Onederland"!!!

Woo Hoo!!  Great news.  I just entered "TWOterville" myself.  It's been a long time since I was there.  I forgot to answer you question about the G'ville get-together.  I do plan to be there.  It's on my calendar.  Unless something comes up I should be there.  My yearbook deadline is a few days after that.  If I'm not finished with the yearbook I may have to stay home and get it done.

Can't wait to see you there.  Hope your yearbook comes together okay.  My friend just went through the same thing (yearbook deadline, that is).

Oatmeal will naturally swell. That is what I put benefiber in in January and it made me sick all day. Later I found out oatmeal swells.

When you make it just put a little extra water in it and let it sit for a bit longer than the directions says. THis way all or most of the swelling will take place before you eat it and you can stop when you begin to think you have had enough. It is a great source of fiber and really does help with the 'other end functions' so to speak. Also it is a bit of a slider food so it leaves the pouch quicker than more dense foods but not as quick as soupy foods.

I make mine with the 2/3 C milk (6g protein) plus 2 tbls dry milk (3g protein per tbls) for the extra protein = 12g + what is in the oatmeal. I make it in a measuring cup (milk pour first) then zap and let it sit.
