One Year Post Op Update
Well, actually 2 weeks shy of 1 year...
I had my annual visit with Dr. MacDonald in Greenville today, and I am all grins. As of today, my grand total weight loss is 197 lbs (167 since surgery and 30 preop). For those of you who know Dr. Mac, you know he's a tough man to please and when he saw my numbers, well, he smiled and told me that I am doing amazing. The receptionist, whom I havent dealt with much before, actually commented that I looked like a new man. And Bobby Lou, well, she didnt know quite what to say. Actually, I dont think she recognized me at first and had to look at my chart a second time for it to register. For me, I guess to hear it said aloud from the Dr. was huge. We are all like little kids inside seeking that approval and confirmation that we are doing right and I guess I needed that confirmation from the SME.
He asked me how many meds I was on for diabetes and blood pressure preop (80 units insulin + actos + metformin and lisinopril for the bp), and how much today. I told him I was off everything and my fasting blood sugar was 85. Yep, I saw it, a slight smile. Made my year folks. Then he told me he saw no reason why I would not reach my goal. He wants me to target 225, then seek PS. He thinks I would be an excellent candidate and with proper documentation, might even be able to medically justify some it.
Also saw the nutritionist. Pretty much an A-ok from her perspective. All in all, a great annual checkup. Now just have to wait for the labs to see what the bloodwork shows. Hopefully there wont be any surprises there.

Congrads Dalton! Happy to hear you got the confirmation of what a FANTASTIC transformation you have made. But then we already knew that!
But you are so right about how we each need to hear it from our surgeons, just like children need it from their parents. But allow me to say it again " You have done exceptionally well"!

Congratuations my friend!!! I was just looking at some of your photos from our Greenville meetup in July. The transformation from then to now is astounding! Look at that crisp jawline in your new avatar. You look great Dalton and I do believe that you and Ben are going to need some baseball bats to keep the ladies at bay... that or maybe Rose and I will need to get some ... LOL.
Wishing you continued success... my friend.
See you soon,

Holy moly @ the new avatar, Dalton! Yes, Barb is right, baseball bats are going to be needed a.s.a.p.! All your OH sisters are sure to keep the gals in line. ;)
It warms my heart to hear what a great 1 year visit you had. You've come such a long way in such a short period of time. Many good luck wishes being sent your way as you target 225 then seek PS. You're gonna achieve all of your goals and dreams, I just know it!
