What's the opposite of a WOW?

I was finishing my lunch yesterday at 2:45 when I realized that I forgot to have a bus note written for my youngest to go to the babysitter's because I teach in an afterschool program.  As I was heading down the hall, I popped the last bite in my mouth, not bothering to chew very well.  A few minutes later I realized it was stuck.  I drank a couple fo swallows of water, hoping that would help.  No way.  I walked next door to the teacher's lounge to refill my bottle when I felt it happening.  I closed the door since the trash can was right beside the door.  Here's the bad part - as I was throwing up the kids that come to me were trying to open the door.  Embarassing!!!

An OW, perhaps?!  Yoiks.  So sorry!

I had that happen once very early after my surgery when I gulped a bite of fish so I could say something to my son real quick.  Definitely OW!  Mostly what happens to me now though is a "pressure in my chest" when I haven't chewed well enough or ate a bit too fast.  I'm here to tell ya, papaya enzymes are my best friends!  First, they taste like Pez candies, so, nummy nummy!  Secondly, even though those instances are rare and not very bad for me, the enzymes take away the slight discomfort within 30-60 seconds.  I carry them in my purse and have them both upstairs and downstairs in the house.

I find that it's toughest to prevent that from happening when your busy or distracted, don't you?!

I have papaya enzymes and have used them before but did not have any with me at school.  I will have to buy a bottle to leave in my desk.  I usually am very careful, especially at school, but with having to rush down the hall...

How far out are you?  I've never had one of those episode to last more than an hour and a half but the last one I had (the one that I took the papaya enzymes for) lasted a lot longer than 30 seconds!!!  Looking forward to getting to that point!

Thanks for the support!

I am sorry you had that experience esp. at school. But on a brighter note, YOUR NEW PIC LOOKS GREAT!!!

Thanks.  I've lost about 40lbs total now and my sister wanted me to update some pics on facebook.  People tell me that they can see it in my face more than anything (should I take this as a compliment?).  Bought some new face cream in hopes that it will help with the sagging.  :)  Haven't heard from you in a while...hope you are doing well.

I keep a bottle of papaya enzyme tablets in my desk at school and one bottle at home.  I tend to eat faster when I'm at school.  Habit, I guess.  I'm used to eating fast while I'm at work so I can get back to what I'm doing.  I have had to take those little tablets a few times.  I find I do better when I take my lunch to my classroom and sit quietly by myself to eat lunch.  That way it's quiet and I have no distractions.  I can concentrate on taking my time.

I really ought to make myself a little travel bottle to keep in my purse if I'm ever out eating, or worse, out of town for the evening and something gets stuck.

I am just over 4 months out (had my RNY on November 21).  I don't think I'm a very fast eater nor do I take very big bites, so when I need the papaya enzymes, I think it's more for having not chewed a small bite very thoroughly so it sits kind of heavy.  The papaya enzymes take away that heavy feeling within just a minute or less.  Maybe it's my imagination?  Maybe that delicious Pez flavor takes my mind off the slight discomfort?  lol  I don't know, but I just know it works!  hehe

You get them in the vitamin section at Walmart or any retail store. I get mine. Now most people will tell you that they are supposed to help breakdown protien but I use them for anytime I get that Stuck feeling. So does Shauna.

Yes, I got mine in the vitamin section at Wal-Mart.  Very inexpensive.  Tamara and I cracked up when we found out that we were each describing them to our friends and doctors as "little Pez candies!"  I tell anyone and everyone about them that has ever had SWL.  They are just that indespensible!  BTW, I always chew FOUR tablets when I need them.  I know I've heard of people chewing one or two and it not helping but the label on mine says four.
