One day left

Actually, less than a full day since I am the first surgery tomorrow morning and have to be there at 6:15.  I did my labs this morning and just can't believe I am finished and right at the finish line!
I have been excited and scared at different times.  I spent yesterday working in the yard and will be going out this afternoon to plant my flowerbed as a way to get my mind off of how hungry I am.  I am having a very hard time with the liquid diet because the beef and chicken broths I bought were horid and I only made it through 1/4 cup of beef and one sip of chicken before saying the heck with them.  The sugar free popsicles are so strongly tasting of the sugar free sweetener that I didn't even make it a quarter of the way through one.  I am consisting of water, a glass of diluted unsweetened apple juice (grudgingly) and sugar free jello right now.  I will be so glad to not have to do this anymore after I come home and begin the full liquids diet!  I actually would die for a slim fast shake about now.
I am excited to say that I have now lost over 20 pounds since beginning the bariatric program here.  I look at it as a good start.  I was sitting at 19, but a day of starving on the barely liquids diet put me over.
The next time I start a topic, I will be sleeved and joining you all on the losers bench!

Good Luck with your surgery tomorrow, good to be the 1st one of the day or at least it would be for me, less time to stress.  I know when I have my surgery in a little over 2 months I will be the 2nd one.

40 lbs lost pre-op

Thanks.  I hate getting up so early in the morning, but it will be worth it for this and so I don't have to wait and wonder if a surgery before mine will be running late and make me think, worry, and be hungry/thirsty longer.

Good Luck tomorrow.  Everyone here will gladly move over to make room for you on the losers bench.

Keep in mind that your tastes may change after surgery, mine have several times.  Those broths and popsicles may actually taste good to you next week.

I am actually hoping big time my tastes change some after surgery so I will have more things to choose from that I can't eat right now.  I would like to stand the popsicles, cottage cheese, more veggies, etc.

You might already know, but in case you don't-let me tell you about these spongeson a stick  and cream they have now to coat the inside of your mouth after surgery when your mouth is so dry and you cant have anything to drink.
They were on my bedside table after surgery but I had no idea what they were until a nurses' aid came in and showed me. They were a life saver!

Just think 24 hours from now - you'll be hanging out on the losers bench. Good Luck and prayers are with you for a safe, speedy & uneventful surgery and recovery.
