You will learn, and then somewhere down the road you will forget again and that pouch will remind you all over again.  That's how it has been for me.  Whenever I get in a hurry, it always reminds me!  I still have restriction 2 years postop because I am generally good at paying attention to the amounts I'm eating and how fast I'm eating them ... but every once in awhile, I'll get in a hurry and BAM!

You and Darcie both mentioned that it happens if you are really hungry and I was. I will really pay attention when I am really hungry to make sure that I don't. Thanks for the insight.

Sandra,  I am going through the same thing...  It is amazing how one more bite will send you into such discomfort.  I've been sick more in the last month that I have since I was in college and drinking.

Eating slow is still not a common word in my dictionary.  But I get tested on it frequently.  My best thing is if I only have premeaured amounts.  Just putting a little food on my plate doesn't seem to work because my eyes and mind still think I can eat my old way.

But Like everyone else said, this is a long lesson to learn.  We didn't develop our eating habits overnight and unfortunately we won't chang them quickly either.

Don't get down though your new picture really shows the success you have had.  Hang in there.

Thanks Courtney. Your remark about not being this sick since college was right on target. I was thinking the same thing. I do still measure out my food unless I go out to eat. That doesn't happen as often as it used to though. It is not as much fun as it used to be. Although I did go out twice this weekend. Both times to Applebees. Once with DH and the day after with a friend. I seem to find more there that I can eat.

Heck girl... I'm over 6 years out and I still eat too fast.  I really have to think about it and put my fork down between each bite to force myself to eat slower.  Some of us never learn... ugh!

Take care!!!

Does it still make you uncomfortable and throw up after all of this time? I guess I thought that it would only do that for the time that it takes your pouch to heal.
