WooHoo!!

Last week I had my husband hide the scales and told him (and myself) that I was only going to weigh myself once a week (on Saturday mornings) because I was driving myself crazy weighing everyday (and sometimes several times a day). Anyway, here's the WooHoo part. This morning when I weighed I had lost 6 pounds this week and now I am down a total of 47 pounds in 9 weeks. I'm so excited and can't wait to say I'm down 50 pounds. My first goal was to get below 300, which I met about 2 weeks out. My second goal was to get below 289, which is what I weighed when I got pregnant with our daughter 6 years ago. My next goal is to get below 240, which is what I weighed after I had her (yeah, I lost weight during pregnancy). I have a big goal to get below 200 by the end of July when I go visit my family out of state (they have no idea I've had surgery). The other night I figured out that if I were to lose 5 pounds per wee****il we leave I could be below 200. That would be awesome. Now I've got to go update my ticker.

It feels so good to meet those goals we set for ourselves.

That is terrific!!  I know how you feel wanting to weigh every day, sometimes several times a day.  I too am a scale junkie.  I weigh in the morning, then I come home from work and usually weigh again.  Sometimes I even weigh again at night before bed too.  I just have to do it.  Yes, it does drive you crazy, esp. when you see the scale not move or move UP for no known reason!  That happened this week.  I weighed Tuesday night after a LONG, LONG rigorous day and I was 304.8.  I must have been very dehydrated, because the next day I was up nearly three lbs!!  WHAT THE HECK???  I've been so good!  It's taken me the rest of the week to get back down to 305.4 again.  This kind of thing does drive you crazy!  Still I've just gotta get on that scale and see.  It's like a compulsion now to see what that all mighty scale says.  I can't imagine putting the scale away.  How on earth do you stand it?!?  I've just gotta know, every day!!!

It was hard not to weigh everyday this week, but I have to admit that it felt so sweet to see the bigger weight loss this morning, rather than the feeling of seeing it go up and down each day. That scale can be addictive. I'm glad I made him hide it. If I had known where it was, I would have gotten it and been on it several times this week.

I think I just told Sandra in another post that I used to weight multiple times daily and nearly drove myself nuts until I decided to only count or track the weight once a week. I still kept getting on the scale and I have to admit that while I rarely hop off and on multiple times daily, I still do weigh every day and it's a great way to stay accountable to me. Some people like to go by how their clothes fit, but to be honest, I weight about 7 lbs more now than I did at Thanksgiving and I can still fit into all of my fitted slacks, so that barometer doesn't work so well for me. I need to get on and off the scale every day to keep my head out of the sand so that I don't regain the weight I worked so hard to lose, but you are early on and I can understand not wanting to weigh every day now.

Congratulations on your incredible week of weight loss.

Wishing you continued success,

Barbara

I weigh myself on Monday mornings. It can make my day. Some Mondays are great. If there is little weight loss, it is a Monday and it can't get much worse anyway. I hate Mondays.
Congrats and have fun with your weight loss!

Thanks. I like your reasoning for weighing on Mondays. I hate Mondays too (actually I don't like early mornings in general).
