OT: Prayers needed
Hi Everyone:
My 19 year old daughter, Morgan, will be having a heart catheritization (sp ?) on Tuesday. I am hoping for a positive outcome. When she was 4 months old she was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. She has pulmonary stenosis, which apparently is rare. Her's is a slight case and she only had to go every 5 years for check-ups. They also said it sounded as if she had a hole but that it would probably close up. So when she went in at her other check-ups at 5, 10, and 15, there was little mention of the hole. Doctor's had changed at the pediatric heart clinic and one said he thought he heard it another unsure. They said when she was 20 to take her to an adult cardiologist. So, fast forward to this year when she is pregnant. Yes, I did say pregnant. The OB wants her to have the heart condition checked out. he said the pulmonary stenosis was slight but she was the first case he had seen of it but that he wanted tp do a bubble test to see whther or not there was a hole and yes, she has a hole but we are not sure how big, etc.or what they may have to do to deal with it, if anything. My daughter had gone on her own at the last visit. When I asked whether the doctor had said where the hole was, her reply was " in my heart." Kids.....lol. She is a kid having one of her own. OK, so say your prayers that it is nothing at all. They did pre-op bloodwork today and the nurse said she'd never seen a pregnant woman getting a heart cath. I believe she scared her. I am somewhat nervous also. Just hoping for a safe procedure and good outcome. By the way, I am going to have a graddaughter in June. It has taken me months to get OK with it. I am still not overjoyed that she is pregnant but will love my granddaughter nonetheless.I didn't expect her life to head in this direction, but all will be OK. I have faith!

Lisa,
I was born with a heart murmer and still have it. (It is basically a hole in a valve or something like that. When I was pregnant (6 times) the docs always would have a heart doc check things out but everytime things were just fine. Same with prepping for my surgery. Had to have a complete cardioly work up and was cleared for surgery. So my heart may be less than perfect it still gets me through everyday and your daughter's will too. See you at the meetup in Raleigh today?

I too will add my prayers for a good outcome. Your daughter is blessed to have your support, even though things didn't turn out the way you planned. I hope all goes well with her procedures and with her pregnancy. I have a neice who is 20 and pregnant, not planned, but accepted. She was born with a congenital heart defect and had open heart surgery at two years old. She is seeing a cardiologist during her pregnancy also. Some things we just can't change. Thank Goodness, God can see the big picture. There are lots of us walking around today that probably didn't start out as the best idea our parents ever had.But we were loved and wanted once we got here.
((((Lisa)))),
Big hugs coming your way and prayers for a safe, uncomplicated outcome. Please let me know if there is anything I can do... Even a shoulder.
Know I'm thinking of you both.
Love,
Barbara
