Fat or extra skin

I am about 15-25 pounds from my goal. 15 would put me at the top of the weight goal for my height, I would like to go a little smaller but am waiting to see how I look and what my Dr says. I still have a gut and love handles but have been wondering if part of that is extra skin or if it is the 15-25 pounds I still need to loose???? I am hoping it is the weight I still need to get off.

Extra skin drapes and doesn't feel all that thick. You can pull and push on it like silly putty.

I had alot of extra skin on my abdomin, but it was full of fat too. It was kinda of thick. When I had my tummy tuck the plastic surgeon cut off 11.5 pounds. I Those with just the drapy skin usually have about 5 pounds cut off.

It could be a bit of both. You doc can tell you for sure.

I found a lot of it was just that final weight I needed to lose. My thighs are "drapey," and so are my arms, but I lost the back fat and extra fat that was love handles completely. That said, I lost my boobs too. For me, getting all the way down slightly under goal (I'm at 106 pounds) was the ticket. It helped SO much.

Hi Jeff,

Congratulations on your amazing transformation. You've done a wonderful job taking the excess weight off. Kudos to you! I think that you will find that the excess you are finding around your midsection will mostly fade as you lose the next 15 to 20 lbs. When I'm down about 7 to 10 lbs, I hardly have any 'rolls', but as I have put the last 7 to 10 back on, I noticed that while I'm happier with my face and I'm glad to see my more feminine 'curves' top and bottom, I don't like the little tummy roll that came with... If I could afford a tummy tuck, I think I'd be delighted with where I am from a body fat percentage perspective. I think you'll find a bit of trial and error as you find your best weight, but you are likely to lose most of the excess  you are concerned about.

Wishing you continued success,

Barbara

I asked that same question on the forum a month or so ago.  I wondered if the only way to get to goal, and still be a healthy weight, would be to get the rest taken off as extra skin.  Since I started off so large I'm guessing I'm going to have lots of extra skin.  The answers I got to this question seemed to agree that the skin would be about 10 lbs, give or take.  So, based on that, if you get to 10 lbs from your ideal goal weight, that 10 lbs will be extra skin.
