I have my date!!!!!!!

My wedding date, that is!!!!!   Friday, April 24, 2009 at 1 p.m.

Scott and I will be exchanging our wedding vows in Gatlinburg, TN in a quaint little chapel in an intimate ceremony for just the two of us.  We are so excited!!

I bought my dress last weekend.  It is a simple ivory colored floor length sleeveless gown.  It does have spaghetti like straps that are adorned with glittery rhinestone beads (that probably sounds tacky, but it's really not.  I'm just not good with descriptions!).  I bought a simple rhinestone slim headband to wear in my hair and I have clear high heeled sandals that have rhinestone sparkly things on them too.  Scott calls them my princess shoes!   I will be glittering from head to toe!!!  LOL!!

I am a bit nervous about my flabby bat wing arms looking bad in a sleeveless dress, but Scott assures me that I will look beautiful.    I have been going to the tanning salon for about the past month trying to get some color on these pale arms and shoulders so that I won't look so bad in the pictures (I hope!!).

I will share pics when we get back.  We are driving down on Thursday night and coming back home on either Monday evening or sometime on Tuesday.  I can't wait!!!!

I do need a bit of advice if anyone can help me.  Scott's mom passed away several years ago and he says that I remind him of her in a lot of different ways.  We both feel like she has had a hand in guiding our relationship to the point we are at now.  I would like to do something special on our wedding day to honor her memory but don't really know what.  Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks for letting me share!!

Hi Donna,
Congratulations on your wedding day.
BTW I love glettery things so it will add to the sparkle you have in your heart.
As far as honoring Scotts mother maybe you could bring a framed picture of her and have the minister place it on the alter as you exchange vows.

OMGOMGOMG

I am so excited for you!!!!!!! I do have an idea for you on honoring Scott's mom - helium balloons. Doesn't have to be many but at some point in your ceremony you can pause, reflect and release them - sorta like your gift to her (if that makes sense to you). Then jus****ch them float away - hand in hand.

Oh I'm feeling mushy today. Can't wait to see the pictures. You'll look dynamite in your dress. Relax and enjoy a very, very, very special day.

Iris,
Thanks for that great idea!  The chapel we are getting married at does offer a white dove release option and I did consider that.  But the balloon idea is a great one!  She was born in 1935 and I have been on the hunt for a 1935 penny to tape to my shoe for luck.  So far I haven't been able to find one but I'm still looking!!

Thanks for sharing in my excitement!!!  It feels like it will never get here!!!!!!!

I'm afraid that I've read this too late to offer any advice or ideas regarding honoring your mother-in-law, but I wanted to congratulate you and your beloved Scott. I'm sure you will look like the princess bride and can't wait to see the photos.

Barb,
I'm not sure why you think it's too late to offer ideas.  I still have a little over a month before the "big day".  LOL!!  But thank you so much for your congrats and best wishes.  As for looking like the princess bride, I sincerely doubt that but as long as I am a princess in Scott's eyes, I guess that's all that really matters.  I am one lucky lady.

Is this too late????? I hope not because I really wanted to say that I am thrilled for you. Your happiness shines thru your words. I also like the idea of the picture on the altar, unless that will upset him. Maybe have a slowdance to her favorite song or celebrate at her favorite restaurant? I am sure whatever you come up with will be just perfect! That dress sounds gorgeous, make sure to snap and post some pics!!! Life sure is full of suprises, isn't it?  Don't get too frazzled, everything will be perfect.

Nancy
