Has anyone experienced problems with gall stones.  If so how soon after your surgery?

I don't have gall stones but had Lap Band surgery on 1/22 and have been having problems with Gall Bladder for about 4 weeks. I had to have a ultrasound on my gallbladder and it came back it had a tumor on it. I had a hyda scan done last Wednesday and it came back the gallbladder is only functioning at 9%.  It is supposed to work at 34% to 75%.

It is common for people to have problems with gall bladder. I was hurting under my breast/ribs. Do you think you have gall stones or have you had problems before???

It may be the gall bladder is not functioning correctly. This happens with some people when the lose weight so fast

Hi Tamara,
if you don't mind my asking, what are they going to do about your 9% functioning gallbladder?  are they going to remove it since it is giving you trouble????   i am still working to qualify for surgery, so i am trying to soak up all of the information i can.....

Thanks!

They are going to remove it I think. I am going to see the WLS dr today to see what he says.

They will not remove the gall bladder at the same time as RNY  or lap band surgery. If you are having trouble now you might want to go ahead and get it removed.

I lost 19 pounds the first month so I knew that there was a possibility that I would have to have it removed.

It's very common to have gallstones within the first year or so of surgery.  For that reason, a lot of surgeons will do a preop removal of your gallbladder before doing RNY.  My surgeon doesn't do that.

I had my gallbladder out over 18 years ago, so I haven't had any issues with mine, of course.

I just had surgery on Thurs and my doctor has prescribed something called ANtigall, says it reduces my risk of loosing my gbladder from 33% to 3%. Sounds like a good thing. We will see. Maybe you could ask about that.
