BBQ sauce ........was a deadly sin

Last night we had some Little Smokies that had been in the crock pot most of the afternoon.
I am still a little nervous about hot dogs but thought I would try the little smokies with some beans.
I broke out in a heavy sweat and felt like i was going to fall out on the floor.
I made my way to bed and felt much better after 30 minutes.
I do belive the sugar in the sauce made me have a dumping episode
So on my honor I will not touch BBQ sauce for a long time.

Annie, so sorry to hear that the BBQ sauce was causing you to dump.  The same thing happened to me last summer.  I have to read my labels and make sure I don't get more than 8 sugars in any of my food servings or I have the same problems.  Please watch your sauces, they work their way out of our pouches almost as fast as our liquids.....Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Good luck in your new job next week..........Carrie

Hi Carrie,
I am and have been for a long time a avid label reader.
I cant go into a store without reading at least one label LOL
Lee fixed the smokies and BBQ sauce the oher day while I was having my job interview so I left it in his hands.
The funny thing is many mornings I will have 1 tblsp of honey on my non fat cottage cheese or yogurt and have no problem.
On Wednesday I will work in the afternoon till around 7pm and Lee will get home early so I told him he could fix dinner that night for us but I did stress keep in mind it needs to be gastric bypass friendly LOL
As for the other night it was so strange one minute we were talking about my job and eatting and the next minute I could have easily fell out on the floor it hit me like a ton of bricks.

So far the only thing that caused me to dump was cranberry sauce...and it only took about a TBSP!!!
Needless to say, I have NOT had it since.
As for BBQ sauce? Thank you for the warning, Annie, but sorry you had to experience it first hand to share the info.

xoxo

What surprises me Annie is how something won't bother me one time but the next time it sets me over the edge.  The one good thing about dumping is it makes us stay away from the bad stuff!

Love you my friend,

Pam

Annie, don't give up on the BBQ sauce.  There are WLS friendly versions out there.  Try the Low Cal Low Carb KC Masterpeice sauce.  Only a few cals (I think 10) for 2 tablespoons.  You can usually find it at Target, Lowes, or sometimes Walmart.  I had similar issues with BBQ sauce like you but the KC Masterpiece sauce works great.  Sorry you had a dumping episode.  Take care.
