7 weeks post op and gallbladder has to go

Yesterday I was 7 weeks post op. I got a phone call from the primary care physician and The gallbladder has to go. I have been having problems with my stomach hurting above the band and with a pain in my right side. My port is just a few inches above my belly button on the right so this pain was nowhere near this. I have had problems with IBS but this was like someone had stuck a hot poker in my right side under my ribs.

Glad to know that it is not in my head and the pain is real. The Gall bladder ejection fraction was a 9%. Normal is 35% or higher.

I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER SURGERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!                                                  NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have missed so much time since January at work. Because of scheduling I missed 8 days after lap band surgery

I hope the gall bladder surgery helps with all the hurting.

I am very afraid I need my gall bladder out.  But after seeing what my DH's gall bladder removal cost, I know I can't afford it.  I would still have to pay 25% of 'allowable' charges, and that is about 23% more than I could afford.  I'll be 65 in 4 years and my Medicare and Med Sup can pay for it then!

I had to have my Gallbladder out last October. You will be GLAD you get it done and the pain will go away. Mine was outpatient procedure and I was back to work in two days. I know how much that hurts and I hope you get it out and will feel better!!

Tamara,

I'm sorry you're having to go through this but I had mine out last year and I felt/feel so much better now.  The surgery was really no big deal (once I got past the IV) and recovery was quick.  I hope you have the same experience.  I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Tamara - everyone has said that it is not so bad, so I hope that you will have an easy recovery, too.
And not too many days out of work.  I wonder if there is a Holiday that you could attach to a weekend and have the surgery and another day to recovery.  Look into it and let us know what they say on Monday.
