I do clear fluids tomorrow, what does that consists of? Broth and Water?

As for the lovely Magnesium Citrate or whatever it is, my paperwork says do it at 8am the day prior to surgery. I had planned on doing it tomorrow afternoon after I pick the kids up from school (don't need to be out running around with a problem!) Is there some reason you guys can think of for drinking the stuff early in the day. I have 0 experience with it.

Thanks in advance. I'm getting down to the wire and panicky!!!

Clear liquids are any liquid you can see through. Jello, chicken/beef/vegetable broth, apple juice, cranberry juice. white grape juice, tea, coffee without milk.

As for the citrate, I'm not sure why they tell you 8am. My program at Duke says 3pm. I would just call them in the am to be sure.

Good Luck, and let us know how it went.

Kala,

My surgery check in time was 5:15am for surgery to begin at 7:30am.   I was told to take the laxative at 5pm the day before surgery.  I didn't get home until 7pm to take it and I was still going at 3am.  As far as the liquids go, I was told to avoid any fluids with a red color.

Hope this helps and congratulations!
