Hi everyone. I just have a question to ask. Next wednesday I am going to my surgeon visit. What happens at this visit? The only thing I was really told is to bring my husband. I am kind of nervous because I don't know what to expect. I called the surgeons office, which is Dr. Mann, and I asked the woman who answered the phone what happens at the surgeon viisit. Is it the decision visit or is it different. She telle me she doesn't know and the woman who can tell me won't be back in till tuesday so I left my name and number on her voicemail. So, I decided to come on here hoping someone can explain it to me. Anyone would be fine but if somone who has Dr. Mann as their surgeon can answer this for me, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks everyone and sorry for all of the questions here lately...lol

Hey,

Dr. Mann is my surgeon.  That visit is for him to talk to you and your care taker, whether it is your husband, friend, parent, etc.  He wants to go over all of the risks and benefits of the surgery and answer any questions you might have.  Now is the time to right them down and ask. Also, he will do a mini exam of your abdomen.

Any more questions, just ask.

Definetly write down any questions. Dr. Mann should go over the procedure and what is going to happen.

They want to make sure that you and your husband or support person understand what this surgery means and you understand the lifestyle questions.

I wrote down questions, Myths that people had told me and went over all of my questions at this visit.

Thanks everyone for answering this question. One more thing though. Is this the appointment where they will send off my paperwork to get approval from my insurance company? Thanks everyone!!

If you have all of your pre requisites done such as Psych visit, nutrition visit, and all of the paperwork is done when the Doctor sees you if he gives you the okay to have surgery then they will submit the paperwork.

Some people depending on their age and weight may have to have more test done before Dr will give the okay but this is just a precautionary.

Hiya stranger,
I am so glad to see you posting on here.
I do want to let you know a few things.
First of all you gain knowledge through questions I am a firm beliver in asking questions and will keep asking till I fully understand.
As far as trying to eat things like people who have has wls might not be so easy mainly because the ones of us who have already had wls have some type of restriction .
I do agree that trying to learn to eat on a smaller plate is good but it might be hard for you before surgery this is my opinion.

I am so excited for you and the new you that is about to happen.
I am here for you just a call away usally.
I am feeling better since loosing Rosie and my Canadian frinds have come and gone.
Today Lee and his friend moved all my workout machines back into the exrta bedroom we had to let me friends use when they were here.
Please keep us posted on your appointment.
My first meeting with my surgeon they showed me a short movie about wls and then the doctor came in and explained in more detail about it.
