Shaky, sweaty, freeze, crave peanut butter

I was just on the main board and I am glad to know I am not the only one dealing with this. I am 17 months out and started this about 3 months ago. I will get real shaky and break out in a sweat. My clothes and hair will actually get really wet. Then I start freezing and I will crave peanut butter. I go long periods of time without eating for fear of gaining my weight back. I went from 259 pounds to 130 pounds... even so when I look in the mirror I still picture myself as heavy. It seems to be a mind thing I am trying to deal with.

We had just about the same stats. My high weight was 264, but I was about 250 when I started this journey and went down to 132. I know weight about 140 to 142 right now. I don't have issues with freezing/sweating, or craving peanut butter, but I am concerned about weight gain. I have been eating stuff I shouldn't and was okay with the first 5 to 8 lbs, but the last couple have me worried. I know I need to make some changes.

I do see myself a slim most of the time, but sometimes I see a dysmorphic version of myself. I have had some portraits of myself taken and it helps me to see the smaller me most of the time.

I think that the concerns you have about seeing yourself as heavy still, are within norms, but I'm concerned that you go without eating for fear of regain. If you haven't seen a counselor about this issue, I would consider it. You don't want to trade one unhealthy food issue with another.

Wishing you all the best,

Thank you so much. I actually have made an appointment with a counselor. I see pics of myself and in those I can see I'm not heavy but when I look in the mirror that's a different story.

I'm glad to hear that you recognize that you need help and are getting it. Andrea is so right about hypglycemia too. It can be life threatening if not managed and treated appropriately. The good news is that it's relatively easy to do, with a little practice and glucometer.

You have hypoglycemia.

You need a glucometer and you need to be eating something every 2-3 hours.

You can *die* from low blood sugar.  It's not something to take lightly.

Thank you for the info. My mother has hypoglycemia but I had never had a problem with it until recently. I did not realize it was that serious. Thank you again.

It could be your blood sugar is too low. I would check your bloodsugar at the time you feel that way, and if it is below 60, you'll know that's most likely the problem. Do try eating something every 3-4 hours and see if that takes care of it. If not, see your doctor as it could also be symptoms of other things. However, with the peanut butter craving, it bet it's your blood sugar.
Good Luck.

Thank you also. At this time I have no way of checking my bloodsugar. I have been reading up on this and I will be sure to have a little something with me in my purse to snack on if I get to feeling that way again.

Yes I was also thinking hypoglycemia.  You might want to carry a protein bar with you in your purse or glovebox if you should get the shakes... I would also watch the carbs and focus on slow-burning proteins to avoid the highs and lows of sugar swings.

Thanks... I have started  to carry something along with me in my purse just in case. What would be some slow-burning proteins you could suggest?
