Hi everyone
I got a excited phone call from my cousin who is one month younger then me.  She has struggled with her weight for a long time and has thyroid problems, diabetes and infertility issues. Anyways her and my aunt and my mom all went to a lap band seminar on Monday.

My mom and aunt are identical twins.  All of these woman in my family suffer from fat gathering around the mid section and no place else (go figure) my sister is *normal* and my brother is tall and thin like my dad.  They all saw my success and have finally decided to take the plunge.  I was happy to hear the seminar they went to was not a sales pitch.  The actual surgeon showed up and answered any and all questions.  Mom, aunt and cousin are right at the borderline like I was, with being *morbidly obese*  They are scared of RNY so they have decided to go to the *Realize Band* all three of them could really benefit from getting rid of the weight.  My mom has had a knee replacement and sleep apnea.  My aunt has fatigue and back problems and thyroid problems.

I am excited for all three of them and hope they all get good results.  I told my cousin about this website and she is going to do a lot of research and hang out on the California board.  It was fun to talk to someone in the *pre op* stage with all the questions LOL even though my surgery was totally different, I know enough from Nancy and Andrea to pass on some Bandit info  all three of them are scared and excited at the same time.  Everyone here can relate to those days of the seminar and getting the testing started.  I just wanted to share my family news with my OH family.  I am happy they are taking the steps to a healthier life!!

Hi Darcie,

As you know, my husband Ben decided to have his WLS and like you I felt it was a personal decision and I didn't want to 'sway' him. I wanted him to decide to do it on his own because he is the one who has to live it and we all know it isn't a cake walk and you can have problems. All that said, I really can relate to your delight, because like you I was just delighed at the possibilities awaiting Ben when he had his surgery. I'm soooo pleased for you and your family. Please do keep us updated on their progress.

Thanks for sharing your delightful news.

That is great news. I want to tell a lot of people I meet that they should really check into it before their health gets too bad. I don't but boy I want to. I waited for a long time and now I wonder why. I could have gotten to a healthier weight at a much earlier age. Anyway, good for them!!!

Hey Darcie,

I can relate to the excitement and anxiety issues and I am so glad you will be there for them. You are right, it is something you must decide for yourself.
