Anybody want to compare Monday's

It's just one of those days. We don't get a lot of bad weather winter days here along the coast so when you know a snow storm is coming - you plan for it. So I planned to stay at David's last night. (that's always a good thing) So anyway - I let the youngest son borrow my van yesterday. (What was I thinking - I had just filled the tank?) He returned it to me at David's house last night around 9 p.m. and said he was going to go stay with friends overnight.

Well this morning at 5:30 a.m. the TV says that the school system has a 2 hour delay (that's who David works for) and that the county offices are closed (that's who I work for). WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!! It's a great Monday. So back to bed we go. At 6:45 (I normally leave for work at 7) I get a call from my boss that we aren't closed afterall that the TV announcement was a mistake. At the same time - David gets a call that schools are closed - not delayed. WTF?!?!?! He's smiling and I'm scrambling like a mad woman.

I flew back to my house to get dressed for work. Guess what? When Kiddo brought me back my van last night he only brought back the ignition key - not my full set. So at 6:55 I realize that I'm locked out of my own house. AND - neither son was home to let me in. I need to leave for work in 5 minutes to be on time. We have been broken into in the past so we recently upgraded all the locks and window entries - can you say locked up tighter than a ticks butt? So breaking into my own home was out of the question.

The only thing left to do - call Moma. She thought the whole thing was funny but I couldn't wait for her to bring me the key. I told her to lay me out a set to wear that I was coming over. So I dressed from Moma's closet ( a really nice burnt orange colored pair of slacks and tweedy colored sweater that she's thrifted for me last week - all size 16 and they fit perfectly- YEAH!!)

Anyway on the drive to her house my gas light came on. Guess where my purse is? Locked away in my bedroom at the house. So not only did I have to borrow clothes - I also had to bum money from my Mom. The kiddo had managed to burn an entire tank of gas yesterday. I swear I may just kill him.

Does anybody want a teenager???? He's free to a good home?? For the most part he's housebroken. He does eat alot and tends to wander if not properly fenced in. there's pictures of both sons in my profile - now that I think about it I'll throw the second one in to sweeten the deal...Any takers?????

Hey Iris sorry to hear your Monday started off on the wrong foot but I hope it's gotten better. I'll pass on the teenagers I've got two boys of my own that don't live with me but they are 23 and 26 and one is married but sometimes I still have to be Mama when it comes to money and such lol. I'm a little down today because my Daddy passed away 32 months ago today and my Mom will be gone 5 yrs next month and so I'm in a crying mood thinking about how much I miss them. Sometimes I feel all alone, but know I'm not.

Sweetie - I hope my saga made you smile at least a little. It doesn't seem to matter how old we are - we still need our parents. My husband died in '01. My dad died in '04. And my Moma remarried in '06. everything changed and I dug my heels in thinking that I could defy it. You're right - you're not alone. PM me if you need to talk.

At least my workday is almost over. Tonight is David's turn to host the monthly poker party so I get to meet a bunch of his friends. Sorta excited about that but it's probably a blessing that I ended up having to work or else I'd end up a nervous wreck. For some reason meeting his family, his kids, his friends, etc...has been the cause of great distress. They've all loved me but still. maybe I notice it more now because I don't stress eat ..... hmmmm.... I guess I just found my journal topic for tonight.

If you change your mind on having a couple of teenager - let me know - I'll even send them with at least a week's worth of food and clean clothes.

He called a while ago - the house key is in his pocket. GREAT PLACE FOR IT -  EINSTEIN!!!! Oh well. I'm beginning to see the humor in it.

. . . locked up tighter than a tick's butt. . .

OMG, Iris!!!  That was too funny!!!  And I really needed that laugh today.  My weekend was not so good.  I have been trying desperately to get divorced from my estranged husband for the past 3 years (long story behind that one!) and he's been fighting me every step of the way. Well, he was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago and he died yesterday!!   I feel horrible for his family and even though this takes care of my  having to get a divorce, it was still rather traumatic.  I didn't love him but didn't want him to die either.  I just wanted a frigging divorce!!  It's really a sad thing since he was only 41 years old.  I'm torn between feeling guilty about his passing and feeling relieved that it's finally over and so is his suffering.  I've never had to deal with something like this so I'm not really sure how I feel right now.

Then they cut our hours back at work to 35 hours a week due to this sucky economy so I got off at 1:30 p.m. today and decided to treat myself to some tanning.  Told the lady that I wanted to lay for 10 minutes but I think she set the timer for 15 minutes cause I'm feeling rather burnt now.  Great!!!  So much for my attempt at relaxation.

And don't even get me started on snow!!  Hell, if I wake up in the morning here in good ole Virginia and see anything less than 4 inches, it's a good day!!

I can't win so I give up!!

Sorry your Monday started out so crappy.  Hope it continues to improve for you.

Life is short ~ dance like no one's watching!!
