Something's stuck!
OK, I ate reheated chicken for supper...not a good idea. Now I have some stuck. I got what I assume is the "foamies" that I hear about on here and ended up throwing up (for the first time) but it didn't help the pain. I chewed two papaya enzyme tablets but no help yet. Any other advise or do I just have to grin and bare it?
In my support group they say that chicken is the worst to get stuck. Especially if you reheated it in the microwave. When I reheat mine I have been putting a wet paper towel in the microwave to give it some moisture. I think it works. Some people will say I am crazy but oh well.
My papaya enzymes say chew 4. Does yours only say 2. The only other suggestion I have is to wait a little bit and try drinking something hot to try to help it go on thru. I would take 2 more papaya enzymes and wait 30 minutes. It usually takes that long for the papaya enzymes to take effect. They will not work immediately.

Thanks, Tamara. I didn't even read the bottle. I just grabbed two and chewed them. I will NOT be reheating chicken. My dear husband was trying to help me out. I feel much better now. It's been a little over an hour. Guess it finally went down. I will try to remember the hot drink advice for next time (and hopefully that will be a loooonnnnggg time!).
I'm so sorry for your discomfort. I don't really know of anything to do, but to wait it out. It should pass with time. Sometimes warm, not hot tea sipped very slowly helps to soothe the sore esophagus.

I understand that it may be a 'referred' pain from the tightness in the esophagus.

Oh Ginny, I'm so sorry you're having this. I've been fairly lucky I guess. The few times I did feel like something was stuck I never threw up, although it may have helped that first time when I got reheated shrimp stuck. (wow, I'll never forget that!) Sipping on something hot may help. If you have any meat tenderizer, put some in a cup of ho****er, stir and sip. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Ginny,
Having something get stuck is no fun.
If throwing up did not help I agree with the others hot tea helps me in fact I just discovered about drinking hot tea after a stuck episode a few weeks ago.
Many times after having a stuck epesode I tend to avoid that food for a long time until I get the nerve up to try it again.
Also keep in mind sometimes foods you have been doing great with for a long time can get stuck.
