Finally-Date for exploratory surgery
I'm sorry I haven't been updating in a while-I've been having a bit of a pity party for myself. Anyway-I went back to Duke last week and met with the OB Drs and the Dr at Duke WLS and they are going to do surgery together, to see if they can figure out why I'm in so much pain.
OB Dr says it's not gynecological, it's too high and she thought she found a small bulge indicating a hernia. WLS Dr says it's not related to my gastric bypass but thinks it's related to my ovaries since I'm constantly geting cysts. Neither of them know why my appendix is enlarged, but aren't too concerned since that's the right and my pain is on the left. I liked the OB Dr I met with. The Dr at Duke seemed very knowledgeable but not exactly friendly. I'm hoping he's one of those Drs that realy knows his stuff, just needs work on bedside.
My surgery is now scheduled for the day after Easter (April 13). That means I'll be there for Easter weekend since it's too far to drive the morning of surgery.
Anyone know of anything fun to do withing a few hours of Duke for little ones? I have 3 kids-two youngest are under 4. THANKS!
Also, anyone know of hotel suites in the area that are good? There will be 6 of us going since my mom won't let me have surgery unless she's with us (she's normally the babysitter).
Thanks ya'll!

Hi Marcy,
Who is the gastroenterologist that you are seeing at Duke?
You might check the the Duke Tower Hotel and Condominiums. They have a little apartments and cater to families that are going through medical issues.
807 West Trinity AvenueDurham, NC 27701
(919) 687-4444
I can look into interesting things to do and I'm sure that if you contact the hospital or duke towers they may be able to help as well.
Wishing you all the best,
Barbara

Thanks - you are always so great!
I will look into the Duke Tower right away-sounds nice and possibly exactly what we need. Thank you so much!
I saw Dr. Gray at the OB part and Dr. Torquati at the WLS part.
This is not exactly how I had planned on spending Easter but I guess I don't have a choice either.
