Health Screening at Work WOW
I'm due to have my labs done next month at my 18 month follow up appointment, but decided to get my Cholesterol and Glucose tested today at a Health Screening my office was doing. I don't have my exact pre surgery numbers, but I know my Cholesterol was really bad, I was pre-diabetic, on blood pressure meds, etc. Here were the results from today with the recommended values:
Item\ Results \ Recommended Values
Blood Pressure: (110/70 ) \ (<120/80)
Total Cholesterol: 180 \ <200
HDL: 74 \ >50 (nurse said this was a "phenomenal" number!)
LDL: 93 \ <130
Ratio: 2.4 \ 4.5 or less
Triglycerides: 65 \ <150
Glucose: 85 \ <100
BMI: 21.8 \ <25
Body Fat %: 16.9
According to the nurse, I was the "picture of great health"...I was grinning the entire time she was going through the results. What a difference a year and a half makes! I knew my labs were coming back good, but hadn't bothered going through the numbers with my Dr. It was good to see the hard proof of why I did this - to be healthy. Obviously I could see the physical changes in my body, but to also have the proof in the physiological changes is fantastic.
I'm going to keep the little card I got with all the numbers in my purse with my pre-surgery pics to remind myself why I chose to have surgery, how far I have come, and why I never want to go back.

Sarah,
Congratulaltions!!!! That's a fabulous result! I think carrying the results with you to remind yourself of why you make the choices that you do is a great idea.
Keep up the good work my friend,
Barbara
