Hi everyone. Well finally my last required appointment is here.  I go for my pulmonary consult on friday. I am kinda scared but really excited at the same time. I can not believe that I ahve actually came this far. But before the good comes the bad. I went to the dr yesterday and she thinks that I may have diabetes :(. So tomorrow I have to go to the hospital to get the 3 hour diabetes test done. I am so hoping things come back negative. I am trying to stay positive but I know with the symptoms I have been having it is possible for me to have diabetes. I am thirsty all the time, I am urinating a lot more and my feet are swollen bad. Especially my left one. That whole leg is swollen. I already got checked out for blood clots and thank you lord it came back negative.
One more thing, could everyone PLEASE keep my son Bobbie in your prayers. As most of you know he was suppose to have surgery to get his tonsils and adenoids taken out on the 3rd of this month but then 2 days before the surgery date, he comes down with a really bad cold. So now he is going to have the surgery on tuesday the 24th. So please keep him in your prayers and keep your fingers crossed everything goes well for me too. Oh could someone please explain to me what will happen at the pulmonary consult. Thanks everyone!!!

Prayers for you and your family. Congratulations also for getting to this point in the pre-op process. My first Wow moment after surgery was when I realized that I had ankles and that my feet were no longer swollen - so I understand your comments. Lots of us have been there so lean on us whenever you need to.

Hi Emelinda,

Good Luck and prayers coming your way!  As far as the pulmonary consult went - I had to do it twice so I can tell you - it was not bad at all.  I had mine done at a clinic at Duke.  First, I had a pulmonary function test, in which they test your airway.  So you have a clothespin like thing on your nose and you blow into a tube while the computer records it.  The technician explains how to do it and talks through it as it's done.  Then, I met with the doctor, he looked at my test results (since they are printed right then and there).  We discussed my asthma and other things.  He asked some questions, I answered them and he said I was cleared!  All I had to do was make sure that the letter clearing me for surgery was faxed to my surgeon.  It was as simple as that!

You're going to do fine!  Good luck and let us know how you do!
