OT: Had to have our dog put to sleep

We had to have our beloved 14 year old dog put to sleep this evening.  He was a great friend, loyal protector, and the only one that had patience to walk with me when I was 425 pounds.  Right now it feels like things will never be the same, and I suppose in a way they won't be.  He will be greatly missed.

Aww Ellen.. I am so sorry.  I know that our doggies are special and become like our extended family members.  My mom had a Pekingnese from the time I was in the 5th grade until I was 24.. and it was awful when we had to put her down.  I can totally relate.  I will say a prayer for you and your family.

Hi Ellen,

I'm so sorry for your loss. 14 years is a good long life, and that shows he had excellent care and lots of love. I'll bet he's as thankful to you for the good life you gave him as you are for what he gave you.  I hope your heart heals as gently as possible.
Here's a BIG HUG to you.
Take care.....

((((Ellen)))),

I can hear the hurt in your heart as you wrote the note. I'm so very sorry for loss. I know that there is nothing that can replace the special bond you had with your dog or the loving place he has in your heart. I hope that warm memories will eventually ease the pain of your loss.

Sweetie - I'm so sorry. It's amazing just how much our fur babies enrich our lives. I pray that you'll be comforted by your good memories from years past.

Hi Ellen, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.  I can relate, we've had to do that too and it is one of the hardest things to do but you know he is in a better place and free of pain and illness.  Hugs to you!

I am so sorry for your loss. We almost lost our "pup" this weekend to gastroenteritis/dehydration. She just turned 16 on Friday. Thankfully she has improved, but we were faced with that possibility and it broke my heart. Please take care and know our thoughts are with you on your loss.
