Some thoughts

Many of you may know I do not get on the scale except every few weeks.
I got on the scale yesterday only to have found I had only lost 1lbs in a month.
OMG freaking out because I know how hard I work at my fitness and recording everything that goes in my mouth.
I understand about the starvation mode thing.
My sparkpeople food intake sets my calorie limit to 2,230 - 2,580 very rarly do I go over 2000 a day.
My average is maybe 1200 usally under that.
The calories I will burn today is
1135 possibly more because today is the day I also do my weights.
So I am asking for some advice here I dont have money to go see a fitness expert.
If I subtract my calories from my fitness from my food intake it says I am only getting in 65 calories.
I feel wonderful like I have never felt in my life my endurance is through the roof .
Then I see post of others who have made it to Onderland and then I feel bad because I have not.
I try to keep positive and tell myself when I started my journey even before wls I was at a much higher weight than most.
I work very hard at exercising maybe a little to much some would say but my goodness I would love to just cave in and except this is where I am and I am better here at this weight than where I was.
I am not ready to stop trying.

Maybe you are over working yourself and your body is not letting go of the weight because of it. But I am not that well versed on these things as I would like to be. But the math here shows you are way too much in a calorie deficet and your body is compensating by hanging on to every ounce. Maybe you need to cut back on the work outs to half and give your body a chance to restore and shrink some more. I totally admire how hard you work out and how good you are at tracking everything. But that in and of itself could be the problem.

Hi Ann,
when I am logging into SP and go to my fitness latly it is saying only burn 868 calories a day I dont know where this came from because I only track my intake and fitness.
I sorta scof at this number and think I need to burn at least 1000 calories even if I took in 1200 calories a day and burned 1000 that would still show I was not getting enough calories.
Any advice would be helpful.

PS I bought some Boca chick bites my niece told me about them and how good they were she is totally vegan.
So I fixed some and WOW they sorta just  stayed put in the pouch for a longggg time and I held off drinking for a long time.

Annie,

If you are functioning at a net calorie load of 65 calories, I think  you have put yourself into starvation mode. Contact Dalton. He'll understand, he's just been through this and I'll bet he'll have some great advise for you my friend. I don't think you need to quit exercising, but I'll bet you are going to need to get a better balance on the exercise to calorie intake ratio to get things moving again. Maybe you can switch it up and do a little less caridio and a little more weight training, while getting things so that you aren't functioning at what is nearly a calorie deficit.

I feel great  better than I have ever felt.
I will figure out what I need to do and hope to hear something back from Dalton.

Hey Annie,

Remember when we were telling Dalton to drink more and eat more?  Maybe you should take the same advice?  I'm with Ann, I think your body is holding on to every ounce, afraid to let any go.  Try upping your water/fluid intake and getting in some extra of the good protein.  Do this for a couple of days to shake things up and see what happens.  Also, are you taking measurements?  I hear everyone say to keep doing those measurements so that when the scales aren't moving you will still be able to see progress.

And I sure do hope that when I hit a stall and am freaking out that you will tell me all this back. LOL

Hang in there!  You've come a LONG way, baby!

((((((((Angela)))))))))) I have thought about you often and wondered how you are doing please do tell.
As a matter of fact I was looking over some old measurment papers I had and noticed that juat a week before my surgery my BMI was........59.5 also I did do a few measurments and it has boosted my self esteem greatly.
Before surgery my hips were 60 now they are 50
waist was 56 now 45 and my arms were 22 now 14.
Also keep in mind I have lost my cloth tape measure and am using a metal one Lee had in the barn so when I get a cloth tape maybe the numbers will be even better.

Annie,

You have come such a long way so far. Your body may just be taking a rest along the trail to "Wonderland."
Have you done some measurements? I'd be willing to bet your body have reshaped itself with all  he exercise you do and you will find a smaller Annie as a result.

The nutritionist told me that if I hit a stall along the journey, the best thing to do is throw protein at it. In other words.....eat a little more to reinvigorate the metabolism. Might want to add a protein based snack like sugar free pudding with protein powder mixed in. Get yourself a treat and 8-10 more grams of protein at the same time!

But to be bummed is not an option for someone who has accomplished so much and has set such an amazing example for others to follow in order to be successful.

Best of luck. I hope to see you at the next Meet-up at Golden Corral. I know there will be less of you then.

Annie,
I teach so many folks from Fearrington. I also belong to the Duke Ceter for Living. They have a great aqautics program. Love going there.

So glad the measurments helped. Remember that key ring you gave us for Christmas.......One inch at a time!

See you soon
