I have my surgery date.........

My RNY surgery is schedueld at Duke on March 17 with Dr DiMaria.. I am trying to be excited, but am so scared. I need some reassurance from those who have felt this way and some suggestions for managing the fear.

the fear is perfectly normal. Take a minute, take a deep breath and calm yourself down. You're taking the necessary steps to lead a healthy and productive life. It can be overwhelming. Post often and pm me if you need to talk things through. There are bunches of us on here who will be more than glad to help you anyway we can.

Thank you so much for the reassuring words. I really appreciate it. It does calm me when I hear from others who have gone thru it and are doing so well. I know I'll be OK. I am trying to surround myself with positive people and positive thoughts........like the folks here.  :)

I had mine with same group (Dr. Pryor) on 1/21 and feeling great!!!!  Best decision I made (other than my hysterectomy) and would do it again if I ever had to!!!!

I've heard Dr Pryor is great. 2 of my friends had her and were so pleased. It is good to hear that things went well at Durham Regional as I am always concerned about the hospital experience(I am a nurse. We make the worse patients!)
Anyway, you helped to quiet my fear.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Good luck!!!  I know how you feel. My date is March 9 and I'm excited and scrared to death at the same time. At least we know that is perfectly normal as these people here have been thru it and felt the same way and they made it just fine.
