Anyone have surgery at Duke?

I wasn't an out of towner but I didn't think there were an excessive number of pre-op visits.  I had one visit to attend the seminar, one with the nurse for a medical work up, one with the surgeon before surgery to ask any questions that I had and one pre-op group appointment.  It took a year for the entire process to be completed (because of my insurance requirements) so the visits were pretty well spaced out.  I have had a very smooth recovery and I think that was due mainly to the skills of my surgeon.

Ok, that's not bad at all.  Thank you!

I had my surgery at Durham Regional which is the Duke WLS hospital. They have done a wonderful job renovating the 6th floor for bariatrics and the care and service were fabulous!

I went to Durham Regional 1 day and did all presurgical testing. Had an appoitnment with the surgeon and then one more appoitmment pre-surgery. It was not a huge time burden over multiple days. It was one long day and 2 afternoons. I suppose that could change dramtically if you had cardiac or pulmonary concerns.

I would highly recommend the nursing staff and the surgicsal, psycholigical & nutritional staffs at Duke WLS.

Best of luck to you

Everyone seems to be saying the same thing, so I'm going to ignore the obviously incorrect (and kind of scary!) website and go with those of you that would know best.  Thanks so much for the info!
