An eye opener

Today after working out I gave my mom a call to go see her.
I get there and she was having her lunch.
We had somewhat of a nice visit but she tells me a person with a new lift is going to come at 2pm.
The new lift arrives and her PT person was there and we start checking out how the lift will work.
They even tried it out on me so I could get a feel for how it felt.
So while they were working with mother I went to find something to eat.
Mother always has lunch meat in her fridge but OMG the lunch meat was way out of date it was marked 2/5/9 so I ate some tuna out of a can.
I told mother about it and asked her when her maid would be gong to HT again mother said tomorrow.
Now I am questioning is the maid fixing her sandwiches with over a week old luncheon meat.
I called my sister after I left to let her know about this.
My sister wonders if this is what is making mother have gastro intestinal trouble which she has had reasonatly.

I wonder if the date you read was the sell by date. If it was then it has a week or more to go before it is really bad as long as it is kept properly stored. I wouldn't worry too much over it. The expire date is for when the stores should pull it more than for the consumer. As long as it is kept at the right temp it will last a little while longer. Things can be stored in a freezer and in that case the sell by or exp dates don't mean much for up to a month past it.

Ann,
Lee has taught me alot about pull dates.
Lots of times he brings home products that have been reduced but still good and usally go in the freezer.
