Time frames
Hi Amy,
It varies a great deal from person to person. I think that generally the Drs will give you 3 to 4 weeks off work, but many are back to work much sooner than that. I think that the recovery might be a little shorter for LapBanders, but many RNY folks are back in the saddle within a week or two as well. I would take the time that you need to recover... Even though you might just have some tiny incisions, you still had surgery and need to recover.

Amy - I was banded and stayed out of work for a week, however, I felt well enough to return in less time. But in nursing you never know if you will have to pull someone up in the bed or push the wheelchair or stretcher to x-ray. And you do need to be careful with lifting/pulling/pushing until cleared by the doc.
My surgery was lap procedure and there were 5 small incisions - my doc uses the glue so you are not uncomfortable as with staples or even sutures.
