OK - I have to share this with you all.
I had such a wonderful day with my insanely gorgeous husband.

It has been almost 1 year since my GBP surgery and many of my goals have been met or exceeded ...except for goal weight...LOL. BUT one that I completely forgot about was realized today.

I actually went motorcycle riding with my husband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW!

He has on '05 HD FatBoy and it has a mere 1200 miles on it. (Yup - 1200 miles in 4 years.) UNTIL NOW!

It felt absolutely wonderful to be out there without a care in the world...at least at that moment...face in the wind, sun on my face, wrapped around my man. (Sorry - getting a little choked up writing this.)

When he bought the bike I thought it was something he would have to enjoy on his own - I could/would never be able to share his love & enjoyment of it.

What an amazing day we had!

It's hard to imagine how limited my life was a year ago but harder still to imagine how limited HIS was due to my obesity.

Now we have so much more to explore together. Not only has my life changed...and continues to...but his as well.

WLS was not a choice that I made just for me. It's nice to see Michael reap the benefits as well.

I look forward to all that will change in our lives in the years to come.

Hope you all had a great weekenrd

Mare,

What a lovely, thoughtful post. I have to say that I realized a similar thing, but in relation to how much my obesity had impacted my children. It's too late for the boys, but hopefully Sarah is reaping some of the benefits of my new found, lighter body that can do soooo much more.

I look forward to many more posts documenting all of the new things you can do.

Hugs,

Barbara

Oh Mare...  I got choked up reading your post also!  I think it's wonderful that you went for a ride with your hubby and I hope you keep trying things you thought you "couldn't do"... You'll suprise yourself over and over again!  For me it was Parasailing, thought I'd never do it, but now I can't wait until I get to go again!  Anyway, I'm glad you had a great day!!!!  Enjoy your days off!

Hugs!!!

We had a motorcycle conversation Saturday night at Dinner. Both of my boys want their own bikes eventually and I have no problem with that. My mom on the other hand was freaking out. I told the boys the only thing about them being young and getting bikes was I wanted to make sure they were Organ donors - not being gross about the possibility just wanting them to be responsible. Anyway they both assured me that they already were. well - we're all chatting away about it and David pipes up wanting to know if I'm already a donor or did I need to change things around. I'm like huh? Turns out he had a chance to buy a bike this weekend but didn't know how I felt  about them. - He told the guy he'd get back to him about it by mid-week. I was like Hell Yeah!!! I'm a redneck queen. I told him if I really liked it that I was buying my own. So looks like I'm turning into a biker babe.

Life is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mare,
I know how exciting it was to be able to ride with your husband...last spring was the first time in probably 7 years that I was able to ride with my boyfriend and it was such a liberating feeling, and one of the many things I had forgotten how much I loved doing until I did it again...At one point several years ago I even bought my own bike when I could no longer fit comfortably on his. I liked having my own, but now I absolutely LOVE being a passenger!

I hope that there are many other firsts for you in the near future. My fiancee and I put more miles on his bike last year than he had in the previous 4 or 5 years combined. We were out there yesterday too!
