On average, how much weight do you loose when you go for your 3 week checkup?  I am just wondering if I am on track, thanks

I wonder the same thing as well.  I go for my 3 week on Tuesday... I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED ABOUT GETTING TO EAT SOFT FOODS.. Aren't you?????   I'm down 12, but only lost 2 lbs this week.. and I have seen where some people say they are losing in the 30 range.. so who knows.  I just know I'm doing what I'm told and thats all any of us can do!!!!

I am actually afraid to start soft foods.  This diet is a no brainer,  I think it is going to be a challenge to see what I can eat, how much I can eat, when to eat.  I feel safer on liquids.  I also gained 7lbs in the hospital.  I have lost that 7 and 14 more.  I am only 11 days out of surgery, so I think that is good.  My scale is acting up, I weighed 129 yesterday, lol

Wow.  I want your scales!!!!   I'm not afraid at all. to start the soft foods.     I have heard though that you should try your new stomach at home before going to a restaurant and getting embarrased.   I did go out with my husband last night.  Needed a change of scenery. We went to Sweet Tomatoes which has lots of soup.  They only charged me $3.00 which I thought was very nice of them.  I tried like 3 different soups (only broth ones!) and had a little bit of fat free frozen yogart (not on my list but after it melted, was no thicker than my protein shake to be honest) and I was satisfied and did not get sick.  I was very excited!!!

When I went to for my 2 week check I had lost 20, now in my third week I am down 25.  My doctoer actually stated that they are not concern with how much you have lost but the fact that you are loosing.  From all that I am hearing the weightloss rate varies from person to person.  Don't get caught up on focusing on the weightloss.  As long as you are loosing don't worry.  Just enjoy the good changes you are starting to experiencing.

I had my surgery 1/28.  I'm down around 10 lbs.  My 2 week check up is Tuesday.  I'm looking so forward to eating soft or pureed foods.

My scales seem to be different from the Surgeons scales so I'm not really sure.  Looking forward to finding out.

I had to go back and look at my blog because I honestly could not remember. I lost 26 lbs BUT (and that was a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG BUTT!!!!) I started out at 383 lbs...336 at surgery. So my weight loss, at first, would be quite significant. You really should not compare yourself to other people's loss and start doubting yourself...like I still do. LOL

You've done great and don't have 200 lbs to lose like I did. Hold your head up. You doctor will be proud and you should be too.

Keep up the good work.

I don't know what the average is but I went yesterday (today is one week for me) to have the drain tube removed and I had lost 6 lbs since the morning of the surgery.  He said he expected me to lose another 8 or 9 before my 2 week appointment next week.

As for the some foods, I've been dreaming of scrambled eggs and cheese!!!  Yum!!!  My husband stopped at our favorite chinese place to get supper for him and the girls on our way home from my oldest's dance class.  Now, I can sit here all day and watch food network and top chef but the smells get me.  I just thought that was cruel.

careful... remember that when we are all telling you where we were at this point you are comparing apples to oranges ... at best, maybe even apples to pineapples. I guess what I'm trying to say is that even when we are the same sex, age, height and weight, we will lose a somewhat different rates, but when you throw in the demographic factors and they your starting weight, the rates of weight loss are going to be all over the map.

I think that what you really want to know is if you are making the most of this incredible opportunity and how else will you know if you don't have a yardstick to measure by? I know that this drove me nuts and I was what is often considered a lightweight because by the time I had surgery I had just about 100 lbs to lose. That meant that in general I lost more slowly than others. I found a website www.thinnerself.com that was created by a fellow RNY patient. You plug in your demographics, surgery date, weight and current date and weight. It will create a report and tell you based on your performance to date, what your project excess weight loss is expected to be. You can also track your measurements once a month and it will graph your size loss.

I hope that helps.
