Lost only 3 lbs in a month

Went to the doctor yesterday for a B-12 shot and they weighted me and I've only lost 3 lbs since I was there last month for the shot and I knew by my own scales I've been at a stall or should I say it goes up and down by a couple of pounds so I've been kinda depressed over it and have tried changing up my gym routine but guess it's not working. But the PA was happy with the 3 lbs and of course he always has to average it out and tells me I'm still losing 1/2 lb a day and that was great. He also said if I had told you when you had surgery that you would be losing 1/2 lb a day you would have been happy and yeah I guess I would have but with losing so much weight in the first 3 months I just feel like I'm failing with only 3 lbs in a month. Anyway thanks for letting me vent.

Cindy,

I know it's frustrating, but it happens to all of us and your PA is so right. When you are in a stall, look at the big picture. The scale will start moving again. In the meantime, just be sure you are getting in your protien, supplements and hydration. You might also notice that when the scale is being stingy, the tape measure often tells another story, so if you haven't had that tape measure out lately, give it workout and I'll bet you'll start smiling again.

Wishing you continued success,

Thanks Barb for the encouragement as always, your so sweet. I know I've lost some inches because I can tell it in my pants around my butt and thighs and no I haven't had the tape measure out since last month so I do need to do that. I guess when I seen the scales dropping 15 and 20 lbs a month and then it's 3 my mind is saying okay what are you doing wrong.

We are always so hard on ourselves. I know that this is easier said than done, but try to step back and talk to yourself as though you were talking to someone else in the group. I'll bet you will be much more supportive, kind and gentle.

Remember that your body is reacting to the fact that it seemed to be free-falling into starvation and it's doing all it can to hoard those precious fat stores. The good news is that there is no way it can win this battle this time. You're seeing the results in your clothing and you'll begin to see it on the scales again soon.

Hang in there sweetie!

I know exactly how you feel...I had my surgery 8/1 and believe me, I'm so happy with the 98 lbs. I've lost and that I only weigh 161 lbs., but I also only lost 3 lbs. this month...I'm ok with that I guess..what choice do I have?  LOL  My nut said that I should really only be losing about 3-5 lbs. per month right now.  I guess I can't lose 10 lbs. a month forever, but I know what I need to do to get those scales moving.  I just haven't done it.
Try to think of how far you've come and remember that your 3 lbs. is only temporary.  Keep smiling.

I am only a week further out than you and my weight has slowed down a bit too. To add insult to injury I had to replace my scale and start all over at 10 pounds higher and am trying hard to get rid of those 10 pounds to get to where the other scale was when I replaced it. But the reality is that I lose a bit then shrink a bit but not necessarily at the same time LOL! The big picture is that we are getting healthier by the day and we are drifting into normal size ranges and our clothes do tell a better story then the scale does and isn't that what counts?
