Update on abdominal pain

Well I went for my 2 week checkup yesterday and told the Dr. about the severe burning pain I was having 3" below my incision. After CAT scans and lab work, 8 hours later, he has decided it is either 1. a pulled muscle I did in my sleep ( I toss and turn ALOT) or 2. a very small umbilical hernia that can't be seen on the CAT scan that is pinching something. He put me on valium and a stronger pain med for sleep, and the valium seems to help the the burning. If its not completely better by Monday, he wants to do an exploratory lap.

The good news... my total weight loss so far from the beginning is 32 lbs, and my labs are all great.  Now if this #*& pain would go away.

Oh, I got to advance my diet too- mmmm egg!

Keep me in your thoughts, hope the valium keeps working, I DON"T want to go back there.

I am glad you talked to your dr. about the pain and that they have/are taking steps to check into it.

I keep getting the pulled muscle reasoning!  I have not heard the umbilical hernia reasoning yet and I am not interested in the exploratory lap!

I hope everything clears up for you.  One day I am fine and the next I am miserable (like today).

Keep up the great work!!!

Hi Barb,
I had some intence pain on my lift side after surgery and I asked my doctor about it he said the area that was so tender was the area they put the camera in to see what they were doing.
I hope you wont have to go back but keep on getting better each day.
BECAREFUL about EGGS I was totally thrilled beyound words when they said I could have eggs.
DH fixed me some scrambled eggs and cheese and it tasted wonderful but  eggs were my first experince with food getting stuck OMG I will never forget it.
After that it took me over a year to get brave enough to try eggs again.
If eggs work for you that is wonderful.

Hi Barb,

I'm sorry to hear that you are still struggling with the discomfort and hope it resolves without the need for further surgery.

Congratulations on your wonderful start!

Wishing you continued success,

Thanks everyone for your kind words.  Actually it wasn't "real" eggs, but egg beaters as they agreed with me better preop than real eggs. Haven't tried the real thing yet, but the beaters in small bites go down great!!

The valium has helped a great deal, almost no pain and thats with only taking it twice a day. So as it stands now, I WILL NOT be going back next week.

This pain was below my waist, more appendix area except wrong side, and the surgeon said they didn't even go down there, so he was really perplexed.

As long as its better...... I don't care. Going grocery shopping with my Mom this afternoon (she'll do the lifting) so am looking forward to getting out.

Everyone stay warm, its 23 here right now!
