OT ... I feel terrible
I am very sorry that Sarah had a accident. DO NOT be hard on yourself!!! if you say *No* everytime she wants to do something then she will be sitting in her room for the rest of her life! Everytime I would get on my horse I knew I could fall off and break my neck. Life entails many risks, this was not your fault. I know you guys went through all kinds of trips to NYC and then the surgery itself. Yes I am surprised that no one at Duke or UNC can help you with this. I hope everything works out for Sarah and you. Please try to relax!!!
Hi Deborah,

Darcie,
Thanks for the support and the well wishes. I know that life is full of risks... and I want her to be able to take them, that's how we and she grow. I think that the hardest thing is knowing that with Ben's job loss we can't get her back to NYC to see the surgeon that I believe is best equiped to handle whatever she needs.
As you say, I'm trying to relax.

I know the thought of her needing surgery again, of ANY kind, is frightening. More so to think you'll have to entrust her care to someone other than her original surgeon.
Let us know how things go for her. I have a soft spot for that girl ;~)
Give her my best and stop beating yourself up!
Mare
Hi Mare,
Thanks sweetie... She has a soft spot for you too! She is still using the journal you gave her and asks about you. I'll tell of your note.

Hi Barb,
I'm so sorry your daughter was hurt. If I was in your shoes, I would have let her go to. My reasoning would have been the same as yours. Don't beat yourself up about it. You have done nothing wrong. These things happen sometimes. Last year, I took my son sledding. He and his friend were standing up on the sled going down the hill. They had done this several times. They were laughing and having a blast. Well, wouldn't you know, he goes down the hill and halfway down he falls. We ended up in the ER and he had broken his leg in two places. He is still being seen by the doctor for that. He's healed nicely. No one could have predicted that just like no one could have predicted what happened to your daughter. I like what Jane said about God being in control, not us. He will see her and you and your hubby through this difficult time. Everything will work out. Just lean on Him. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,
Tammy
