update on Ginny

I was up at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville this evening and saw Ginny (Craclemom-I think that's the way you spell her handle).  She had been stuck in the recovery room overnight, but did get a room this evening on the same floor I was on 7 weeks ago.  She and I have the same surgeon too.  She is in an intermediate care unit with lots of attention and a nice private room.   She looked great and was very alert, although a little uncomfortable I think.  She passed her swallow test today, no problem.  When I arrived this evening her family was all around her.  I got to meet her husband, her children, her mom and dad, as well as her sister.  Her little girls were so cute.  Ginny looks so well, there's no doubt she'll be going home tomorrow.

Thanks Meredith!  When I called about 5:30 they told me she was still in recovery....  Sounds like the Pitt Palace is full this weekend.

Welcome to the Losers Bench Ginny!

thanks for the update. I know she was so excited to have the surgery. I hate that she was stuck in the recovery room overnight.

I did have some great nurses in the recovery room though.

Meredith,

You have done so good with your weight loss. I cant believe you have lost over 80 pounds now. That is so exciting

Most people say they had great care in the recovery room.  There are only a few patients per nurse and they're right there with you the whole time, which is great.  Ginny said it was fine, except that it was very noisy.  There are just curtains between the beds and she said people were talking all night.  She should be home very soon.  Maybe she'll feel like posting and letting us know she's home!

I was so lucky I got a room only a few hours after I woke up in recovery at Pitt Memorial.  I consequently don't remember too much about my time in the recovery room.  I remember them trying to get me up to walk right after I woke up.  I was so wobbly and groggy I was sure I would fall down, but I made it several steps, with one person on either side of me.  I also remember everyone kept asking me, "How do you feel?"  And I remember thinking that was a really stupid question, so I finally told one doctor, "Fabulous, let's go dancing!"  I'll never forget them telling me I was singing Christmas carols when I woke up!!  What a hoot!  I guess they were giving me some really good drugs.

Thanks so much for the encouragement on my weightloss.  Three more pounds and I'll be one-third to my goal!!  In 17.2 pounds I'll hit 100 lbs lost!  When I lose 29.2 more lbs I'll break 300 into the 200s!!  And I just noticed I've broken out of the 50s for my BMI and I'm now in the 40s!!  I have lots of milestones I'll be marking along the way and I plan to celebrate every single one!!!
WOO HOO!!!
