Anyone with NCBCBS and Dr. Fernandez?
Jane, thanks for the information. I've only seen and heard good things about Dr. Fernandez and his team and how cooperative BCBS is with the whole procedure. I guess I need to call Dr. Smith's office about how it is covered when approved for surgery. It still sounds like everything has to be paid upfront with him and the nutritionist, but I guess once approved, Dr. Smith's portion is refundable for what I paid.
CCRH, you are looking great! I have too much booty, too, and my dh likes it just fine. I remind him, though, that I felt a whole lot better when it was a size 12 booty instead of a 24.
I'm going to try and come to the information meeting this next month since I'm returning the packet to Dr. Fernandez's staff.

Hey Amy,
I too am working toward the RNY surgery with Dr. Fuzz. I have BCBS of Alamba Insurance. I have everything behind me that is required with my insurance. WIth BCBSAL I have to have 6 months of medical supervised weigh ins, I am getting readyt o have my 5th one this month March 17.
I have just this week turned my receipts in from the psychiatrist, which I have been tol d will not pay but very little of the $650.00 out of pocket I had to pay because of the out of network.
The company I worked for once had the BCBSNC insurance and several of my friends had this surgery and it was covered, so you shouldn't have any issues. Good Luck
I have had to pay more out of pocket than I expected. I was told it was like this until my insurance approved my surgery, which I have this month and the weigh in in April before I will know anything.
Like you, I have no known medical problems but will if I don't lose this 100 pounds.
Good luck to you!
